With the deepening of the process of global economic integration, the transportation network has become more complex. The traditional single mode of transportation has become more and more difficult to meet the increasing demand of customers.Multimodal transport can effectively combine all kinds of transport modes to achieve complementary advantages, with the characteristics of low transport cost and flexible transport mode.It can provide safe, accurate and personalized services in long-distance transport of bulk goods, which has become a new development trend in the transportation industry. At the same time, with the continuous growth of maritime trade volume, multimodal transport with ports as the core hub has attracted much attention. However, with the rapid growth of Global trade volume and freight volume, the relatively backward development and construction of port, wharf and traffic road infrastructure make the situation of port congestion worse. In order to pursue the overall benefits of multimodal transport, from the carrier's point of view, study on the optimization of container multimodal transport routing problem under the container gate-in mode, basing on the constraints of the busy period of the port which gives the busy time window and idle time window, taking into account the periodic time window of the transit node and the time limit of each transport mode schedule and constructing a routing optimization model with the goal of minimizing total transportation cost then the improved genetic algorithm model based on tabu search is designed to solve the model. On this basis, design examples and solve them, comparatively analyze the operation results of different busy and idle time windows. The results show that:Considering the busy period of the port could help the goods in the port effectively stagger the busy period, thus avoiding excessive pre-collection fees and charges for arriving late;At the same time, the closer the busy time window to the port close time, the longer the interval between idle time windows could both get the greater impact on the carrier. Therefore, the carrier must fully consider this factor when actually developing the transportation plan.
