A Study On The Protection Of Miao Traditional Villages In South Sichuan Under The Concept Of Cultural Self-confidence

The cultural heritage with five thousand years in China has nourished 56 nationalities,which are scattered all over the country,ornamenting the inviting mountains and rivers the country has to offer.Progressing with the the times and profiting from the urban-rural integration construction,the ethnic minority villages have come a long way,with their economies and life quality greatly boosted.However,factors including inconvenience in transportation and history have set back the economy and hampered further cultural development in some traditional ethnic minority villages,and the traditional Miao villages in South Sichuan is among them.As the cultural self-confidence awareness increasingly spreads,it is particularly significant to protect and develop these traditional villages in the new era and under the new idea.Backed by the cultural self-confidence strategy put forward in “the 19 th session of national congress of the communist party of China” and against the backdrop of related researches on the traditional Miao villages,the research object is selected as the traditional Miao villages in South Sichuan.By sorting out and analyzing the research situation of “the traditional villages and cultural self-confidence of the Miao nationality” at home and abroad,the research applies methods comprising field research,literature review,and questionnaire investigation.The research aims to find out protection and development strategies to enhance cultural self-confidence in the traditional Miao villages in South Sichuan.At last,the research took Xuyong Paradise Village as an example to explore approaches to enhancing cultural self-confidence.By figuring out what is cultural self-confidence,the research concluded that it can be divided into two parts: material and spiritual self-confidence,and by using the definitions of“internalization of consciousness” and “externalization of consciousness” in the realization mechanism of social function of cultural self-confidence,the research analyzed the function of cultural self-confidence in villages,which is specifically manifested as cultural internal self-confidence and cultural external self-confidence.Besides,the research also defined the two concepts.Therefore,the research concentrated on investigating the self-confidence of the traditional Miao culture in South Sichuan,analyzing the cause of the problem,and bringing forward effective principles,strategies and measures that are beneficial to the cultural self-confidence improvement of the traditional Miao villages in South Sichuan.The research result indicates that the reasons frustrating the cultural self-confidence of the traditional Miao villages in South Sichuan lie in their poor access to cultural and ideological education,lacking villagers' appeals to supports for their development,insufficient utilization of local resources,serious damage to buildings,and backward industrial development.It also reveals that the principles of“integrated preservation,promotion of ideological education,authenticity protection,and sustainable development”should be followed to enhance cultural self-confidence,and specific strategies and measures formulated in accordance with the principles should be drawed on.What's more,methods of“village reality location,buildings protection,streets and lanes renewal,scope of protection expansion,cultural atmosphere enhancement and industrial development reinforcement”should be adopted to increase the cultural self-confidence of the traditional Miao villages in South Sichuan.
