The World is becoming smaller and smaller,due to the internationalization and globalization trends and forces connected to them,multinational companies compete at an increasingly competitive level.The changes in the business environment globally occur at an extremely fast pace,so the multinational companies constantly have to upgrade their core competencies,capabilities and resources in order to develop and sustain their competitive advantages.The main drivers behind the globalization process are the increased deregulation of world trade,rapid development of new technologies and large privatization processes worldwide.Consequently,this has boosted the rise of large-scaled multinational companies with global presence.This thesis elaborates on the different motives and determinates that influence foreign companies to invest in the Uzbekistan automobile industry,which in 1994 became the largest automobile producer in Central Asia.The Uzbekistan car manufacturing industry has been thoroughly described and analyzed through in-depth PEST and Porter's five forces Analyses.Furthermore,based on the theoretical background of Dunning's eclectic paradigm(OLI theory)and Ghemawat's CAGE framework,this paper contributes to the existing literature on the topic by preparing detailed analysis of the drivers that have influenced the investment decisions of the two most powerful players in the Uzbekistan automobile industry: the MAN Auto and the American General Motors.Moreover,the thesis presents the most important distance determinants with respect to the two foreign countries: Germany and The USA and the host country: Uzbekistan and gives valuable examples with regard to the operations of the two biggest global players in Uzbekistan.Last but not least,the paper provides in-depth description of the sustainable trends in the Uzbekistan automobile industry and gives important insights of MAN Auto and General Motors' current strategies in this direction.The conclusion chapter gives and overall discussion of the most significant findings with regard to the business operations of the two foreign companies in the host market.What is more,the authors of the thesis offer general and important recommendations for the future profitability and growth of the two foreign most powerful companies in Uzbekistan.
