Living space is a significant part of urban space and plays a crucial part in the daily life of residents.Along with the rapid urbanization development,a large number of gated communities have emerged in China, resulting in problems such as expansion of floor space, loss of street vitality, and isolation of urban space. At the same time,it has also formed an increasingly similar urban style, which has caused the daily life of the regional residents to gradually disappear. In 2015,Chengdu proposed “small blocks regulation” to promote the development of residential space. From the perspective of daily life, this paper uses the literature research method, the chart research method, the induction and analysis method, and the field research method to study the current residential area of Chengdu. This paper combines the three main factors of daily life, activity, space and regional factors of living space, endogenous constraints and social dynamic factors to construct a research framework for residential space in Chengdu from the perspective of daily life. This paper analyze the relationship between the daily life and living space of Chengdu residents and the vitality level of the current living space,in order to find a typical living space with daily living vitality from the bottom up.The first chapter of the thesis interprets the concepts related to daily life and neighborhood living space, determines the scope, purpose and significance of this paper, and studies the related literatures of daily life and neighborhood living space. The second chapter further combs the literature of daily life from theoretical research to space, extracts the three elements of daily life, and combines the influencing factors of living space to construct an analytical framework for living space from the perspective of daily life. The third chapter mainly analyzes the evolution of the interaction between residential space and daily life in Chengdu. It is found that the relationship between living space and daily life in Chengdu has experienced the evolution from symbiosis to alienation. At present,Chengdu proposes a “small block regulation” policy in the context of alienation of living space, but the current “small block regulation” lacks adaptation to residents' daily life, triggering a series of contradictions.Based on this, this paper constructs the analysis framework of daily life vitality of living space from the perspective of bottom-up daily life, and finds that Yulin District is a typical living space with vitality in Chengdu. The fourth chapter focuses on the typical living space of Chengdu-Yulin Street, and analyzes the characteristics of daily life from three dimensions: spatial structure, functional structure and humanistic structure. Then it was discovered that Yulin Street District already has the prototype of “small blocks”,but the spatial structure, functional structure and human structure need to be optimized. In the fifth chapter, this paper proposes the purpose of building the residential space in Chengdu from the two levels of society and planning, and clarifies the concept of building a residential area——Life-led,structural systems, elastic corrections, diverse organic and regional characteristics.Next, this paper considers the optimization orientation of the neighborhood living space from the perspective of daily life, proposes the spatial structure optimization from the female demand orientation, the functional structure optimization from the elderly demand, and the humanistic structure optimization from the young people's demand orientation. On this basis, the paper further proposes corresponding optimization measures.Among them, the spatial structure optimization measures include: controlling the scale of the block, optimizing road traffic, and configuring street facilities.Humanistic structure optimization measures include: reshaping community neighborhood culture, strengthening residential safety management, introducing diverse industry types, guiding residents to green travel, and promoting residents' public participation. This paper hopes to propose the above-mentioned strategy to supplement the current “small block regulation” policy,so that the living space can be better integrated into the city and realize the beautiful vision of building a living street.
