Since the reform and opening up,China's urban construction has entered a period of rapid development, and the urban landscape undergones tremendous changes. The residential historical district, which preserves the essence of the city's historical heritage and retains a large number of aborigines, has gradually declined. In order to save the historical districts, the government has carried out a series of protection practices, restored the vitality of the historical districts, but also derived new problems such as excessive commercialization, spatial differentiation, and loss of indigenous people. Therefore, the paper starts from the perspective of everyday life theory, taking Pingjiang historical district as an example to study the characteristics, current situation, causes and influences of spatial differentiation. Then re-examine the differentiation of speculative everyday life space, and propose a protection strategy based on returning to daily life.Firstly, through the visualization technology of POI data in typical years and the survey of time and space behaviors of aborigines and tourists, the differentiation characteristics and current situation of everyday life space in Pingjiang historical district are analyzed. The research indicates that the everyday life space presents hollow features, the everyday consumption space presents marginal features, and the daily leisure space presents fragmentation features.Due to the different ways of using the living space by the aborigines and tourists, the structure of the everyday life space is decentralized, and the form of everyday life space is gradually evolving.Secondly, the paper analyzes the causes and the path of differentiation of everyday life space through field investigation and the development history of Pingjiang historical district. The study pointed out that the collision between cultures, the alienation of life, the failure of government control, the out of control of the market, and the division of the community have promoted the differentiation of living space. Then it depicts the path of everyday life transformation led by the government, the market and the aborigines. It sums up the dual effects of positive and negative effects brought about by the spatial differentiation of everyday life, and re-examines the spatial differentiation of everyday life from the critical theory of everyday life. Finally,in return to everyday life,we propose strategies for the protection of residential historical blocks from residents, living spaces, and institutional and legal guarantees. This article continues the residents' community in Pingjiang Historic District by protecting the aborigines and accepting new immigrants;it protects the everyday life of the residents by reconstructing the living space system. The paper also proposes to ensure the everyday life of residents by reconstructing the living space system;to enhance the awareness of the aborigines to participate in the management of historical districts by means of building homes, and to give them the power to live and multiply in the historical streets by empowering them.
