Research On The Renewal And Activation Of Old City From The Perspective Of Everyday Life

Under the background that Chinese urban development model is gradually changing from increment to stock,some urban central areas facing decline are given the goal of reshaping land value.These areas are usually ordinary old urban areas with no prominent history and culture.They are gradually ignored in the process of rapid development around them,and finally form a scene of decline in the urban center,which needs to be improved urgently.On the other hand,the residents living in these areas improve their living environment through some experience guided ways.These spontaneously created behaviors carry people’s yearning for everyday life and show positive vitality in the seemingly decaying space.Therefore,how to continue to stimulate the diversity and vitality of everyday life in the process of reshaping the value of space has become a meaningful topic.This research-based design takes the Beimen Street area of the old city of Yuxi as the research object and is guided by the relevant theories of criticism of everyday life.The main steps are as follows: First,through the study of the current situation of the old city,explore the "events" of people’s everyday life,take the "events" as the index,and explore the places and environment with the reality of everyday life.On the basis of the former,these "events" are translated into spatial language to meet the needs of everyday life,and the nodes of the activated area are constructed in combination with the site conditions.Then,based on the refined nodes and combined with the urban renewal concepts such as "urban acupuncture",the nodes are connected to play a role to complete the activation of the whole area.Based on the basic planning and control of the spatial structure of the area,this research eases the current situation of the occlusion of the old city,and then focuses on the renewal and transformation of the "nodes" that play a key role in the activation of the area,in order to drive and promote the sustainable development of the selected area through the method of "acupuncture activation".Taking the everyday life events as the clue,this research runs through the theoretical research,preliminary analysis and design,studies the everyday life urbanism,event space theory and its derived architectural practice works,refines the design methods and strategies,and finally completes the node space transformation design of Beimen street in Yuxi City combined with the relevant theories of urban renewal.It is expected to explore and build a place that can reshape the spatial value of the old city and carry the vitality of everyday life through the research on everyday life and urban renewal.
