High-rise building has a major position in the urban planning of every nation, because it supports the high urban birth rates, and the creation of slums and precarious housing on the outskirts of old colonial cities.Nonetheless, tall buildings have not been readily encouraged or adopted in the construction industry in the Democratic Republic of Congo in any structured way.The urban population of the Democratic Republic of Congo is the third largest in the sub-Saharan Africa after Nigeria and South Africa. The Urban population's growth rate of the country has been extraordinarily fast, estimated at 4.1 % which means that 1 million of the population moves to cities every year.If this continues,it was predicted that the population will increase in only 15 years. Thus this research aims to analyze the factors affecting the implementation of high-rise building in the residential urban planning of cities in D.R.Congo.An extensive analysis of the results obtained by a survey involving closed-ended queries conducted among the architects belonging to the society of architects in Congo(S.A.C),which is a nonprofit organization whose active members are Congolese or foreign architects who have chosen Congo as their second home. The factors gathered from the survey were divided into 4 main factors: External Factors,Internal Cost Factor,Internal Behavioral Factor, and Internal Technical Factor. The data collected was then analyzed using the Bayesian posterior probability model and the maximum posterior probability(MAP)to compute the rank probabilities of variables employed in this study and to rank factors preventing the implementation of tall building concept in residential urban planning in D.R.Congo.The finding of the study argued that the main factor affecting the Implementation of Tall buildings is based on the internal cost factor.Future research is suggested to investigate into how the different factors are related. This study identified the Importance of High-rise building in the residential urban planning considering the future by categorizing and ranking the negative factors affecting the implementation of tall building concept.
