Historical Memory And Urban Renewal

For the old city,renewal is one necessary process which should be experienced.As the carrier of human living space,with the development of human society,urban is naturally keeping on continuously updated process.And that constant renewal give urban full of vitality.Meanwhile,renewal is one indispensable way while anything want to keep working and developing.In the past forty years,China has undergone tremendous urbanization.Large-scale movement can be seen in many areas.Undoubtedly,it brings city long periods of development.But,the spatial structure and form of our city is changed at the same time.Negatively,the loss of city characteristic,the same of civic image,the forgotten of historical memory,the prevailing of fake and the tension of landuse,makes people feel strange about their hometown.Therefore,unlike the transformation of the old city under the guidance of "urban development" and "urban management" in the first 40 years,this study thinks that the renewal of the old city nowadays should place the collective recognition of the local society in the forefront,mining the local context and cultural history deeply,and putting the conversation and continuousness of urban historical memory at first.Economic development is only a means,not an end,in the emphasis on "retaining the old" on the basis of legislation to achieve new.In this paper,the planning and design of Yungaixian plaza area of Xingning town is taken as the research content.According to the 13 th Five-Year Plan of its local government,based on the actual needs of its local people,combined with the natural conditions and historical culture ofXingning,this plaza,which lied in the core of this old,is transformed and renovated comprehensively.The scope of the planning includes square,park,business district and Chinese academy.It is a comprehensive planning and design issues.It is hoped that this research will explore the strategy and method of renewal based on the ancient town memory for Xingning,and so as to provide a feasible solution for its development.At the same time,it provides some references for the renewal of the old city in other parts of our country.
