The Landscape Design Of Pet Dogs Activity Space In Chengdu Residential Area

With the development of society,the change of urban housing pattern,the faster pace of life,the more stress in work and less interactive communication in daily life,the relationship between people in the city becomes indifference and loneliness.Keeping pets can comfort the heart of loneliness,help people release their emotion,relieve stress,treat disease and can also beneficial to human’s health.Because of the benefits mentioned above,more and more people keeping pets.However,many cities have enacted regulations to limit the activity of pet dogs,which makes it difficult to wingk the dog in the city.Since many pet dogs can only share outdoor space with people and the environmental hygiene problem of dogs,there are so many contradictions and difficulties of management.In order to build a harmonious community and to meet the needs of dog owners to walk with their dogs every day,it is very important to establish special activity site for pet dog in residential area.This paper takes the activity space of pet dog in Chengdu residential area as object of study.Based on the combination of theoretical analysis and practice and the three basic theories of landscape planning,landscape aesthetics and environment behavior science were applied to analyze the living habits of pet dogs and the characteristics of outdoor activities.This paper also has been conducted a field visit and questionnaire survey on the activity space of pet dogs in Chengdu and analyzed the design characteristics of pet activity space and the demands and preferences of dog owners on the activity space of pet dogs.Through the research and the demonstration,the design method of the urban pet dog activity space is put forward,which is as follows.(1)The design of the living space of the pet dog residential area should follow the principle of consistency,security,nature,functionality and landscape efficacy.(2)The activity space of pet dogs in Chengdu residential area is usually set independently in the end of the road or the edge of the green space.According to the residential district grade,it can be divided into complex layout and compact layout.The complex layout area is usually over 300 m2,and the compact layout is between 100 m2 to 300 m2.(3)The complex layout area usually set up entrance area,activity area,communication area and service area.And the compact layout usually including activity area,communication area,and some infrastructure.(4)In order to meet the needs of pet dog ’s activities,these four types of facilities,service facilities,action ride,leisure facilities and isolation facilities,need to be set up in the activity space of the pet dog.(5)Setting topography,garden path,plant,small product and landscape elements appropriate can enrich the landscape of the activity space of pet dogs.Finally,applied the design method of pet dog activity space design to design the pet paradise in the "park mansion" residential area in Chengdu,has been verified the feasibility of design method and further enriched the residential area of Chengdu pet dog activity space design theory.
