Optimization Of Guoyang New District Layout Planning In A "Livable Life Circle" Perpsctive

Since the reform and opening-up,the process of urbanization in China has been accelerating rapidly,resulting in dramatic changes of urban space,such as the construction of new districts,which has already been imitated in most Chinese cities.Under the background of heated new-type urbanization across the country,this paper rethinks the role of the new district as an important space group,and discusses strategies for optimizing urban design and planning.The “livable life circle”,which is a heatedly discussed perspective nowadays,might has the potential to be the starting point for advancing planning collaboration and a most powerful proof of the development of optimization strategy.Judging from the current development of China,the new urban district can also implement the planning strategy from the most ideal angle.The “life circle” refers to a range of behavior space formed by residents,taking their homes as the center and carrying out various activities including daily shopping,leisure sports,commuting education,social communication and medical care.The “life circle” has rich space-time scale attributes.The key point of it is to understand the urban activities and the interaction system,regional spatial structure from the perspective of residents’ activity space.To be “Livable” considers the inner working system of the new urban district from the perspectives of “suitable and pleasant for living;suitable and pleasant for business”,and highlights the activities of people to check and verify the location,scale and using frequency of various types of facilities in cities in order to achieve the best combination between the relevant systems such as road traffic,space landscape,and create the most convenient way to achieve the goal.Based on the concept of “livable life circle”,four systems can be built up including functional system,traffic system,spatial landscape system and urban humanistic spirit.The vertical hierarchy and the horizontal linkage of related systems can be strengthened to form an optimal configuration.The project took Guoyang County New District of Anhui Province as the real research object,and analyzed the livability from the four aspects involving current living facilities,ecological environment,transportation and humanistic spirit.Based on the analysis of the status,adjustment suggestions of optimizing the statutory urban design and planning was provided and the content organization was extended.The optimization strategies for the four aspects were proposed: enhancing the function services of the livable new district with the “well-equipped facilities” strategy;improving the ecological effects of the livable new district with the “environmentally friendly” strategy;ensuring the green travel of the livable new district with the “slow-behavior first” strategy;and shaping the spiritual homeland of the livable new district with the "social civilization" strategy.Under the four strategies,a livable-oriented action plan was elaborated to form a coordinated plan and a clear demonstration of the theme.The paper uses practical project to implement the strategy of planning which aims in forming a scalable experience.
