In recent years,electric vehicles have become one of the main development direction of many countries,especially in industrialized countries.One of the problems that current electric vehicles need to solve is the high energy consumption of air-conditioning system,which seriously reduces the traveling distance of electric vehicles.The thermoelectric air conditioner has the advantage of small volume,simple structure,high reliability,flexible control,fast starting speed,no refrigerant,directly use DC power and has high heating efficiency.The cooling loads and heating loads of air conditioning system in micro electric vehicles are small,for which thermoelectric air conditioner is able to provide enough cooling or heating capacity.Mainly used for short-distance traveling,micro electric vehicle is not sensitive to the maximum traveling distance,so thermoelectric air conditioner is suitable for micro electric vehicles.In order to study the application feasibility of thermoelectric air conditioner in micro-electric vehicles,a thermoelectric air conditioning system for one kind of micro electric vehicle is designed in this paper.Through experimental tests and simulation calculations,a thermoelectric air conditioning system which is suitable for micro electric vehicles is obtained.This paper firstly studied the factors that influence the performance of thermoelectric cooling device and thermoelectric air conditioner,and came up with a design process of micro-electric vehicle thermoelectric air conditioners.According to the structure of the micro-electric vehicle and the climate of the design area and the thermal comfort requirements of the passengers in the vehicle,the type and needed number of thermoelectric cooling device are determined,and two different thermoelectric air conditioner are designed.Through experimental comparison,the design scheme that is more suitable for operation on the micro electric vehicle is determined,and the air duct and piping system of the thermoelectric air conditioning system are selected or designed.A micro-electric vehicle thermoelectric air conditioner experimental bench was built to test its performance under different operating conditions.The experimental study found that it takes only 2 minutes to reduce the air temperature in the micro-electric vehicle,when air supply mode is full-return air and full-fresh,the cool side outlet air temperature of the thermoelectric air conditioner is 22.4 °C and 27.3 °C,and the cooling capacity of the thermoelectric air conditioner is 900 W and 1008 W,respectively.Moreover,by increasing the number of thermoelectric cooling device from 36 to 124,the coefficient of performance of thermoelectric air conditioner can be increased from 0.47 to 2.1.This paper verifies the feasibility of thermoelectric air conditioner applications in micro-electric vehicles,and provides a reference for air-conditioning solutions for electric vehicles.
