| Industrial heritage,as a unique cultural heritage,is an important witness of the development of human industrial civilization.Its diverse and precious values have been paid more and more attention today when people’s aesthetics,consciousness and values have gradually changed.On the other hand,the concept of urban waterfront space as a scarce public wealth is gradually strengthened,and people’s desire for "being close to waterfront" is becoming more and more intense.The return of the comprehensive value of waterfront space to the public has become the general and popular trend.In this context,the old waterfront industrial zone has become a scarce treasure land in the city.How to maintain the intrinsic value of waterfront industrial heritage while creating more abundant extended value for the society,and how to promote the transformation of waterfront industrial production shoreline to urban public vitality shoreline through urban renewal,has become the focus of common concern of all sectors of society.Guangzhou has an important historical position in the history of industrial development in China.It is not only a thousand-year-old city that connects the past with the present and the world,but also a world factory of modern industry.Along the Pearl River,a large number of old waterfront industrial zones with long history and unique characteristics are gathered in the central district of Guangzhou.Some of them have been demolished and disappeared in the boom of rapid urban development.Some of them have experienced a round of transformation and reuse and regained vitality.Nearly half of them are still facing the wave of urban renewal.What are the characteristics of the renewal of the old waterfront industrial zones as a whole and the trend of the renewal movement are worth pondering.Whether some renewal practical cases fully reflect the comprehensive value of the old waterfront industrial zones requires more objective and scientific research and evaluation.This paper takes 42 existing old waterfront industrial zones in the central district of Guangzhou as the research objects,neatens the historical overview and development evolution of the old waterfront industrial zones,and finds out the renewal characteristics and renewal trends based on the current situation.Then explores the value connotation with waterfront space and industrial heritage as the spatial prototype,reveals the comprehensive value of the old waterfront industrial zone and establishes a practical case analysis framework based on the guidance of comprehensive value.Through detailed investigation and analysis of practical cases,the author summarizes the experience and shortcomings of current renewal practice.Combining with the supplement and enlightenment of domestic and foreign cases,this paper puts forward the principles and objectives that should be followed in the renewal,and puts forward optimization suggestions for renewal modes and strategies.The results show that the renewal of old waterfront industrial zones in the central district of Guangzhou has some characteristics.The older the industral heritages are,the more preferential they can be protected,and most of them are steadily protected from point to area.The waterfront attributes of overall industrial zones are obvious,and the advantages of shipyards and warehouses are prominent.The resources reserved for renewal are abundant,and the types of reuse are gradually diversified.The trend of renewal is that the renewal objectives are more diverse,the renewal methods are more organic,the renewal modes are more various,the heritage protection is more complete,and the utilization of waterfront areas is more public.Comprehensive values of renewal space of old waterfront industrial zone includes six aspects: ecological environment value,history and culture value,science and technology value,art and aesthetics value,social public value and economic development value.Experience of renewal practice is summarized as improving environmental quality,enhancing interaction between human and waterfront,continuing industrial culture,promoting the integration of old and new,creating comfortable space and enhancing public vitality.On this basis,the paper puts forward the principles and objectives to be followed in the urban renewal,and suggests several renewal modes such as perfecting the value system,strengthening supervision,advocating the concept of new value of new heritage and innovative reuse modes and mixed functions development.Finally,specific optimized strategies are put forward from three aspects: shaping the natural environment of the waterfront areas,rebuilding the industrial heritage buildings and creating the external public space.It is hoped that through this research,the compilation quality of renewal of old waterfront industrial zone in Guangzhou will be strengthened,the environmental quality of waterfront space will be guaranteed,and the transformation of waterfront industrial production shoreline into urban public dynamic shoreline of Guangzhou will be actively promoted. |
