| With the rapid development of higher education in China, the expansion of enrollment in colleges and universities continues to increase, and the number of teachers and students continues to grow.College campuses are an important carrier of teachers’ and students’ lives.Campus planning and design mainly relies on the designer’s experience and subjective feelings, lacking of scientific quantitative evaluation basis.Space syntax originated in the West and it is a theory and method based on the principle of topology to analyze the relationship between human activities and space. It is a language to describe the architectural and urban spatial patterns.Space syntax quantifies different spatial structures through different models, and analyses spatial and socio-economic activities.During the accumulation of scientific research for more than 40 years, space syntax has a considerable foundation in the spatial distribution of movement flow, and has been widely verified in many Western countries.Taking Wushan Campus of South China University of Technology as an example, this paper introduces the research method of space syntax to quantify the spatial distribution of human flow and the vitality of campus area by space syntax, combines the needs of campus renewal, and provides scientific prediction and evaluation for campus renewal design through the optimization design of architectural layout and campus road system. This study is divided into five parts. The first part elaborates the research background, significance and research status. The second part summarizes the basic theory, research methods, project practice and empirical research of space syntax.Taking Baidu Map as the base map,it establishes a syntactic model for Wushan Campus of South China University of Technology and its surrounding areas, and makes a preliminary quantitative analysis. In the third part, through the camera data, the road human flow on the campus is measured, and the human distribution in the middle and weekend of different travel modes is studied. The fourth part is regression analysis and comparative analysis of the measured human flow and the syntactic model, discussing the correlation between the human distribution and the syntactic model of different travel modes, the suitable radius, and the reasons for the difference between the quantitative analysis and the measured data.It also makes a comparative analysis of the correlation between the syntactic model and the measured traffic based on Baidu Map in different modeling ranges, and also makes a comparative analysis of the correlation between the measured traffic and the human flow activities in the campus. The reasons of particularity and applicability of quantitative analysis of spatial syntax are discussed. In the fifth part, through the regression analysis and comparative analysis, the syntactic parameters with the highest correlation are selected.Combining with the time distribution of different travel modes, the optimization strategies are put forward for the problems existing in the transportation system, and the experimental optimization design is carried out, quantified and compared through the quantitative analysis of space syntax. The spatial distribution and vitality of human flow in Wushan Campus of South China University of Science and Technology are analyzed.Combining with the needs of campus renewal, the experimental optimization design is carried out for the areas with less vigor in the campus to optimize the architectural layout and road network structure to enhance the vitality of campus space, and quantitative evaluation and comparative analysis of the optimization scheme are carried out through quantitative analysis of space syntax. |
