The axis map model of space syntax provides a quantitative analysis method for urban space and has made great achievements. But in practical calculations it ignores the flow of people in blocks. Due to the different city organizations between Chinese and Western, this ignoring made the calculation results of Chinese general urban inaccurate. This paper argues that this problem can be improved by adding blocks entrances when drawing the urban axis map, and the calculation results of Chinese general urban will be more accurate. The comparison tests of certain urban prototype with grid road network show that the improved method presented by this paper can more effectively reflect the characteristics of the urban space. Then this article further experiments Zhengzhou city,and the results show that the calculation results of axis map added neighborhood entrances are more consistent with the actual situation.The article is divided into six parts. The first part analyzed and summarized the theories and research status at home and abroad of space syntax and its axis map drawing methods, and made the research objects and methods clearly and established the framework of this study; The second part described theories and principles of space syntax and the use of axis map in analyzing urban space and analysis method steps systematically; According to the different organization ways between Chinese and Western cities, the third part presented a suitable axis map drawing method for space syntax of Chinese general urban and experiment it with prototype of simulated cities; In the fourth part, we experiment Zhengzhou city using the improved method presented by this paper in order to illustrate this method can be applied to the axis mapping of Chinese general urban; The fifth part discussed applications of the proposed Space Syntax axis mapping method; The sixth part is the conclusion of the article, it summed up the new approach and pointed out the deficiencies. |
