With global economic improving,the vehicle usage is increased year by year,thus that vehicle accident result in a lot of casualties and property loss.More and more countries are paying great attention on the car's safety.Practice shows that airbag is very important and effectual protection facility when car collision occurred,which becomes essential safety device for car in European.Nowadays,how to make the airbag module safer and more effective to protect our drivers and passengers is the key research object of the world,as well as the increasing hot topic our consumers care about.So that how to provide the most effective protection to drivers and minimize the injury,on the premise that to satisfy the design requirement,has become the critical research content of the Automotive passive safety area.On that reason,the paper mainly focus on the Driver Airbag module folding process application research,aiming at improve the protection effect of the module by optimizing the folding process.The major aspects of this paper include:(1)Combine with previous project experience,summarize the legal and design requirement,analyze the Driver Airbag Module common failures and improvement solution.(2)By the out-of-position test regulated by FMVSS,compare the test result of three different folding processes which are Z-folding,Roll-folding and star-folding,select the more optimized folding process.(3)Based on the MADYMOD software,create the model of Roll-folding process and Star-folding process,by comparison of the simulation analysis,associated with the OOP results,to define the star-folding process applied for the C project.(4)Apply the Star-folding on the C project,by static deployment test,head impart test and body block test,find the potential failure during test,improve the folding process and then validate the optimization folding process.
