Modular Design Of Ward Lighting Based On Visual Psychology

With an increasing interest of the society on medical area lighting,visual psychology is taken into consideration of lighting designing.This thesis is based on a comprehensive study of medical area lighting,and applies visual psychological techniques to lighting module design that meets the specific needs of the receiving party in medical setting.The purpose is to explore and find a system that can effectively promote patients' wellbeing both emotionally and physically.The discussion is to bring new ideas to the traditional design conversions,and to make positive impact on this meaningful and promising field.This thesis takes medical room as the main study object,incorporates a large amount of previous researches,and applies visual psychology techniques to medical room lighting design.With an analysis on how visual psychology and medical lighting interact with each other and affect medical staffs,patients and their family,this thesis draws the concrete line that defines three high level modules for medical lighting.By splitting and coordinating the modules properly,the best results can be achieved where each and all individuals in the medical setting have their needs satisfied,with doctors being productive and patients and family being comfortable.A well designed experiment was conducted using simulation software to evaluate various equipments,level of illuminance,glare and color temperature,in order to find the best parameter.With that,analysis was done for the three modules with detailed measurement and comparison.This thesis incorporates the technique of visual psychology to quantitatively and qualitatively analyze modularized lighting design,to achieve a thorough digestion and draw the conclusion of the critical elements for medical area visual psychological application.Hope to bring in valuable insights for this important field through my effort during working on this study.
