Nowadays,with the rapid development of national economy,people get richer,and people begin to seek for life with higher level.People are not only satisfied with the experiences brought to them by the product functions,but also seek for newer and better experience.Emotional design has become a new method of contemporary design.In emotional design,it is proposed that the product design should not just meet people's requirements for basic functions of product,people have more spiritual requirements.Making a spiritual connection between products and users,implement the “people-oriented” design idea.At present,the development of emotional design in China is still in the primary stage,and it is mostly theoretical research without a complete design system.This paper takes the massage chair as the research object.In the existing massage chair design,most manufacturers are still aiming at continuous innovation of its function.They think they can succeed by adding functions,but the effect is not remarkable.This paper combine the emotional design and massage chair design,add the consideration of the user's emotion,design massage chair that users usually need,promote the development of the massage chair market.To the massage chair manufacturers,this paper will play a certain reference value.Based on the research results of users' emotional needs,this paper summarizes users' emotional needs for massage chairs,and applies the three-level theory of emotional design to carry out emotional design for massage chairs.The research of this paper mainly includes the following five stages.First,to summarize the research background,research purpose and research significance of the subject,and make clear the importance of combining emotional design theory with massage chair design.Second,the emotional design is deeply interpreted to lay a solid theoretical foundation for the follow-up research.Third,to investigate the existing massage chairs in the market,analyze and conclude the characteristics of existing massage chairs with examples,and then conduct an investigation and analysis on the emotional factors of the massage chairs for the target users through the form of questionnaire survey,and summarize the users' emotional needs for the massage chairs.Fourth,to put forward the design method of massage chair at the level of instinct,behavior and reflection by using the theory of emotional design and the investigation results of emotional elements.Final,to put forward and evaluate the design scheme of massage chair.The design result should meet users' needs,improve users' emotional experience and also enhance the value of massage chair.
