Research On The Design Of Walking Tool For Mild Disability Elderly Based On Mental Model

Mild disability in the elderly is a period of transition from middle-aged to old-age complications.During this period,accompanied by physical function decline,psychological pressure,and family relations can not be handled properly,resulting in a negative attitude towards life.This further deteriorates the physical condition of the elderly.Due to physical disability,travel needs that could have been realized have created many obstacles.Before designing the assistant walking tool,this paper firstly studies the user population and behavior characteristics of the elderly with mild disability,and then analyses the current problems faced by the elderly with disability through user information collection.On this basis,the design background and core design objectives of this paper are summarized.Based on the user experience-centered design concept,this paper collects the user’s mental information,establishes the user’s mental model for the psychological and physiological needs of travel,and takes the user’s mental model as the basis for the design of the substitute bicycle product.Through the collation and collection of the user’s behavior,cognitive and emotional information and needs,the constituent elements of the mental model are achieved.Relevant design theory is mainly based on the application and demonstration of user research methodology,which is often used in the early stage of user behavior and psychological analysis of Internet products,but its research mode and method are applicable to hardware and software products,and experience-based karyotype is also in line with the purpose of this design study.The research methods are as follows: 1.Research and analysis of relevant literature and design cases;2.Collect user information,analyze and summarize user and demand information.3.Construct the mental model of the elderly with mild disability in the travel scenario of this special group.4.Design practice demonstrates the correspondence between function and mental information.Then,according to the design goal,user mental model and the development trend of the old people’s walking vehicles,the modular functional system is selected as the presentation mode of the product design,and the functional layout and product system design are carried out according to the user mental model.Finally,according to the different usage scenarios of the booster,this paper elaborates how the modular component application of the product adapts to the mental model of the mild disabled elderly living scene,and evaluates the cognitive effect.The experimental results verify the usefulness of the booster walking tool designed in this paper based on the mental model of the mild disabled elderly.
