At present,researches on visual simulation of construction schedule for core rockfill dam are majority virtual 3D visualization constructed by the construction simulation results.The 3D visualization scene includes main performance models(such as water retaining structure models)and environmental models(such as a large number of digital terrain models).In order to improve the display effect,it is necessary to invest a lot of resources to construct and render the 3D model.At the same time,with the progress of the project,the engineering site environment will gradually change,but the environment models are difficult to update frequently,which will reduce the authenticity and intuitive of visual simulation.To solve the above problems,the method of AR-based 3D visual simulation of core rock-fill dam construction schedule was proposed.The following results have been achieved in this study:(1)A method of camera registration based on IMU(Inertial Measurement Unit,IMU)+RTK-GPS(Real-Time Kinematic difference-Global Positioning System,RTK-GPS)is proposed.To solve the problem that the camera registration mothed of the existing researches on AR-based 3D visualization of construction progress lack character of real-time.A method of camera registration based on IMU+RTK-GPS was proposed through the analysis of the core rock-fill dam construction site characteristics and various camera registration methods.The 3D coordinate was obtained by RTK-GPS and 3D pose by IMU.The real-time registration of camera was achieved in the case of making full use of the infrastructure in engineering construction site.(2)The method of AR-based 3D visual simulation of core rock-fill dam construction schedule was proposed.To solve the problem that the 3D visualization scene of existing researches on 3D visual simulation of core rock-fill dam construction and the real construction site scene are not in the same space and the problem that building and rendering a large number of environment models occupy too much resources,the method of AR-based 3D visual simulation of core rock-fill dam construction schedule was proposed.It was achieved that the construction simulation progress model was displayed in the real engineering site environment,and the efficiency of visual simulation is improved by the means of AR technology.(3)In view of the characteristics of core rock-fill engineering,a visual simulation system for construction progress of core rock-fill dam based on augmented reality was developed,and the results were analyzed.First of all,the simulation model was set up by combining with the engineering example and the simulation results were obtained by calculating.secondly,the 3D visualization scene of construction progress was directly displayed in the real environment without environmental models using AR technology,which made the construction simulation and construction site closer.The interactive query and 3D dynamic show of simulation results were achieved by Web Service based data exchange technology and VTK based dam model processing method.Finally,comparative analysis of AR-based 3D visual simulation of core rock-fill dam construction schedule and the traditional 3D visual simulation of core rock-fill dam construction was done,and the result shows that AR-based visual simulation mothed made visual simulation more real and intuitive with less resource consumption.
