As an important component of the thermal power plant,the thermal process automation system basically consists of a control system,actuators,signal cables and instruments and apparatus.The design level of the control system has a direct influence on the power plant's operation level and economic benefits.Thus,great emphasis should be put on the control system design in the process of constructing and operating a thermal power project,especially in its initial planning and design.In this paper,design contents of a coal-fired power plant project in Calaca,Philippines at the stage of construction drawings were referred to.According to this power plant's control level and control room layout as well as principles for major function planning of its control system,the control network of the control system,the design of system cabinet,the system database and the design of software functions were studied and discussed.The method of digitalizing the control system of the thermal power plant was studied thoroughly from different aspects: hardware design,network design and software design.In this paper,theoretical research on the design of control system of the thermal power plant was based on practical detailed data.In the context of further progress of China's “Belt and Road Initiative”(BRI),this paper is expected to provide some reference solutions and ideas for similar foreign engineering construction projects.
