With the development of urbanization and the increase of car popularization rate,the original urban roads have been unable to meet people's demand for traffic,resulting in more and more serious urban traffic congestion in recent years,facing the problem of traffic congestion,In the construction of urban roads in Hohhot,the main and secondary main roads have been continuously lengthened,widened,and intersected.However,the traffic pressure has not been significantly alleviated.The main reason is that the existence of a large area of enclosed residential areas in the city has resulted in a serious shortage of the number of urban bypass roads.In view of the spatial pattern of"sparse road network and large block"in Hohhot,this paper puts forward the opening of residential district.It can not only optimize the road network structure,but also alleviate the traffic congestion in Hohhot to a certain extent.Based on this idea,this paper discusses and analyzes the influence of the closed community opening on the road network structure.The main work of this paper is as follows:(1)establishing the database of central urban road network of Hohhot city by RS and GIS technology.Based on the obtained data,the present situation of network structure of central urban area of Hohhot city is analyzed and the road way of central urban area of Hohhot city is obtained.The road length is 679.42km,the road density is 3.122km/km~2,and the grade of road network is 1:3.8:3.2:1.9.the density index of secondary trunk road and branch road in central urban area is on the low side.(2)Through RS and GIS technology,the location,area and scale of 866residential communities in the central city of Hohhot were extracted and the data of internal roads in the community were collected and a residential community database was established.It is proposed that the spatial distribution of the residential districts in Hohhot is unevenly distributed and concentrated on both sides of the main traffic.(3)The residential area of Hohhot accounted for 23.71%of the total built-up area of Hohhot,including 18 residential areas with an area of X?20hectares,and a total of 117 residential areas with an area of 10?X<20.There are 263 residential communities with an area of 5?X<10 and a total of 468residential areas with an area of X<5.Finally,it was discussed that due to the large area of the residential community in Hohhot,the planning and construction of branch roads and secondary roads were seriously affected.(4)according to the city road traffic planning and design specification(GB50220-95)this paper discusses the open selection principle,residential selection criteria,open strategy,open mode and so on.And the Hohhot city center 866 closed residential area in 75 areas are not suitable for open,450residential plots for open 341 areas for a single opening.(5)after the opening of residential district in central urban area of Hohhot,the total number of branch networks increased to 1512 and the total length of branch increased to 656.46 km.(6)This paper studies the influence of residential district opening on the urban road network structure of Hohhot city center,as well as the opening of residential district.The density of roads in downtown Hohhot has increased from the original 3.12km/km~2 to 6.13 km/km~2 and the density of branch road networks has increased from the original 0.48km/km~2to 3.62 km/km~2.The results show that the open residential district plays an important role in optimizing the road network structure in Hohhot.
