The work of railway shunting is very important to the railway transportation production.It is of great significance to complete shunting work and improve the shunting efficiency to reduce the transportation cost and promote the development of railway transportation.Most of existing locomotives from the MTR corporation Ltd are underdeveloped in technology.Locomotives with exceeded dimensions are not only unable to meet all the MTR lines but also very impractical.In this paper,carbody steel structure of CKD0 A type diesel locomotive supplied for MTR are described so as to meet the service requirements.This paper introduces the 3D models established for underframe,driver's cab,side wall,roof cover,partition wall,cow catcher,etc.based on EN12663-1:2010.FEM of carbody steel structure was established with ANSYS software.According to the actual situation,different equipment masses and loads were applied to carbody structure.Detailed analysis and calculation of carbody structure statics are carried out combining with the eight main cases,i.e.vertical static loads,longitudinal compressive force,longitudinal tensile force,cab safety compressive force,rescue,whole vehicle lifting,torsion,and cow catcher stipulated in EN12663-1:2010.From the calculation results,local structures unsatisfied were improved.And the finite element analysis is performed again.The rationality of the improved structure is shown by the calculation results.The points with a bigger calculated stress and those able to react the force transmission direction were taken for the test.Comparing with the calculation values one by one,error of the data for static strength test is within 10%.Thus the conclusion of FEM is further validated.From the results,it is shown that the static strength test of carbody steel structure validate the rationality of FEA result.Carbody steel structure can meet the standard requirements and daily use needs.This paper provides valuable experiences to research and development of the diesel locomotives exported to advanced area and improves carbody structure design level.
