SDD17type freight locomotive is designed by CSR Qishuyan Co., Ltd.(hereinafter refer to QS), aiming at the adverse weather condition of United Arab Emirates such as high temperature, sand and storm, excessive dust, and so on. The locomotive adopts the AC-DC electric transmission system, AC auxiliary system,12V280ZJ mid-speed diesel engine, single driver cab, outside corridor, U-tube three axles bogie and26L type brake system. The locomotive adopts32digital micro-computer control system.The text mainly study carboy structure design of the SDDn type locomotive, according to the line conditions and the traction requirements of the end user. QS preliminarily design the locomotive car body structure, the three-dimension model is set via PRO/E, and do the gridding layout by ANSYS, then static structural analysis by WORKBENCH, mainly aiming at the vertical load working condition, longitudinal compression load working condition, longitudinal stretching load working condition, rescue strength load working condition and tensional load working condition of car body under frame. The preliminary analysis result of the car body can not meet the requirements of the locomotive strength. After researching of technical specialist, QS make the propriety modifying, and renew the finite element analysis of the car body, and the result is that the stress of all kinds of working condition is less than the allowable stress of correspondence working condition. The design of the car body structure is reasonable, it meets the requirements of the locomotive operation and traction tons requirements, and static structural analysis meets the requirements of the relative standards and specifications. The research direction of the text is how to make the finite element model more accurate, and how to make the later simulation analysis more real and available, because of the simplification the model structure imported to ANSYS.The key point of the text is the carboy structure design of SDD17type locomotive, including three-dimensional model building and finite element analysis through importing three-dimensional model to ANSYS. The design of the car body structure meets the requirements of locomotive strength under all kinds of working condition, and is verified by static strength experiment organized by China Academy of Railway Science.
