In recent years,with the development of the society,the urban residential areas in our country are still dominated by the traditional closed areas,and the scale of the closed residential area has been gradually expanding,which will lead to the residential functionalism.Self-sufficient closed model has brought the most serious problem to urban traffic,even if there is a part of open residential area,the majority of it is still conventional open residential area planned years ago,such residential areas are often lack of consideration in the design of street environment.Only highlighting basic needs of residents,but ignoring the quality of street itself,results in the shortcomings of rigidness,dullness and formalization,thus losing the value of residential streets,so that the residents can not enjoy the pleasant and comfortable living condition under such an boring environment.The development of urban open residential area is an inexorable trend for modernization,humanization and sustainable development of future cities,in the traditional sense,to open up is considered as to solely break the boundary of residential area and get rid of the original residential space structure,however,it is not the case in essence.On the basis of the research on the development of domestic and foreign residential areas,through the case study of various forms of residential areas at each stage,and taking the promotion of the residents' life and the urban communication as the starting point,this paper summarizes the different characteristics of roads,street interfaces,residents travel modes,etc.in China's urban open residential areas,attempts to find a more effective development and construction mode for urban open residential areas in China,and puts forward reasonable countermeasures and suggestions,aiming to enhancing the vitality of the neighborhood,promoting the communication among people,establishing the harmonious relationship between the residential area and the city,optimizing the contradiction between the human and the vehicle,as well as providing a free,relaxed and open road system.Firstly,starting from the necessity of optimizing the environment of open residential areas in China,this paper discusses background,purpose and method of the research andexpounds the definition of the relevant concepts of the open residential area.Secondly,through the summary of the planning theory of urban open residential districts and the development venation of urban residential area traffic system both at home and abroad,this paper analyzes and discusses the development of the relationship between people and vehicles.With the method of field investigation,the author probes into the residents' suggestions on the open residential areas and the problems appeared,such as planning,landscape and design;combining with case analysis,the author tries to offer relevant strategies on overall planning,space layout,public service management,etc..And finally,the author discusses the overall planning of open residential area and proposes three aspects for the optimal design of landscape space and traffic system,which are planning level,traffic design and street environment optimization respectively.This paper puts forward the optimization strategies and their feasibility,attempts to optimize the urban traffic environment of the urban open residential areas in our country,and makes the prospect of China's urban residential areas.
