Huizhou traditional residence,an important part of architectural genre,has unique architectural style and long historical cultural.With the development of the times,Huizhou residence is changed in the form and structure to satisfy the needs of modern people.This paper took the traditional residence as the research object and carried out a field measurement of indoor light environment and thermal environment based on analysis of its architectural structure characteristics.,It aimed at optimizing and designing the internal space without changing its flat and preserving the traditional appearance to meet modern people living needs.the optimized residence can be used as a reference for the transformation of the traditional houses in Huizhou area.At the same time,it can provide a reference for the Huizhou traditional residence.Traditional residence keeps indoor temperature under the Upper limit of accept temperature of 31.6? With 95% time of summer by the shading of patio,MaTou wall and the insulation of thick wall.However,the indoor temperature generally is low below 11? in winter due mainly to the poor air-tightness,winter is cold and wet.Traditional residence is lack of bathroom and other auxiliary space,resulting in simple functional spaces.Based on the traditional houses,it was added some modern functional spaces,such as bathroom,balcony and reading room.The space layout is redesigned in order to make the building more convenient with advanced equipment.After the simulation of indoor environment of the new residence,It is found that the living room and the east bathroom of the first floor do not meet the lighting standards.the temperature in the bedroom on the second floor in seasonal typical day is higher than 31.6? in summer,winter indoor temperature is lower than the lower limit of comfort temperature 11?.Indoor light environment is improved by the light through stairway and the change of windows size in bathroom.In terms of thermal environment,optimization programs with various kind of walls,roofs and attics were conducted to analyze the variations between the temperature and thermal loss.The results showed that the thermal insulation of porous bricks is better than other material with 0.5? lower indoor temperature in summer and increased around 0.5?in winter than traditional materials.The effect of insulation roof is better than the air roof,which increased the indoor temperature by 0.7 ? in winter and cooled by 1.2?in summer,compared with the situation of the bedroom on the second floor.theindoor temperature of the second floor bedroom is improved significantly after adding the attic,which increased the indoor temperature by 1.5 ? in winter and cooled by1? in summer.However there was no distinct difference between various height of the attic.
