Study On Problems And Countermeasures Of Physical Space Renovation Of University Library In China

With the advent of the mobile Internet era and the rapid development of modern information technology,readers have increasingly diversified their access to the literature,which has led to a decrease in the rate of visitors to the library which challenged the progress of the library.In order to adapt to the development of the time and to meet the diversified space needs of readers,redesigning and reconstructing the existing physical space has become an unavoidable issue in the development and transformation of the library in the new era.At present,in order to satisfied readers’ needs for new learning methods,teaching methods,scientific research,innovation research and relaxation,the work of library space’s reconstruction is being carried out nationwide,Shenyang Normal University Library,South China Normal University Library and Xi’an Jiaotong University Library has created their own model in space reconstruction and has made remarkable achievements.However,there are also many problems and difficulties in the process of library space reconstruction.First of all,the lack of funds hinders the overall progress of space reconstruction.Secondly,there’s no adequate investigation of the needs of readers in the early stage of reconstruction,so that the space after reconstitution cannot be completely consistent the needs of readers,result in the space utilization rate is low.Thirdly,the original space design imposes restrictions and restrictions on reconstruction.The design of the library building has its particularities and complexity.Some libraries did not consider the future expansion problem when the building was first built.The original building’s design has brought limitations and restrictions on space reconstruction,making it difficult to break through the original pattern of space re engineering and making the rebuilding run aground.In addition,most libraries do not have a systematic and rational assessment mechanism to evaluate the results and use of remanufacturing,which means the reconstruction has great blindness.How should the library respond these difficulties and problems? First,libraries should raise awareness and seize opportunities.The reconstruction of physical space is the direction of library work in the future.However,due to lack of attention,surveys show that many qualified university libraries do not develop space.Therefore,university libraries should seize the opportunity to actively rebuild the image of the library through space reconstruction to better serve teachers and students.Second,before reconstruction,in order to maintain the reader’s long-term attraction to new space,it is necessary to conduct a full user demand survey to maximize the user experience and comply with the reader’s behavior habits.Thirdly,libraries should have predictability in designing and make appropriate arrangements in advance in terms of building the structure to react to the needs of future development.In a word,the physical reconstruction of university libraries is a multi-disciplinary project that requires joint efforts of all parties in order to receive substantial consequences.
