The Research On Time Dimension In Architecture Based On The Perceptual Experience

The dissertation re-examines the influence of philosophy and modern arts on architecture,discusses the inner relationship between people and architecture,time and space responding to the demands of returning to the nature of space in architecture after the crisis of informationization and visualization since the modern times.It establishes the significance of time perception in designing work on architectural space.The dissertation elaborates the perception of time from three aspects of physical time,historical time and psychological time respectively.It describes the perception of physical time with medium of light and materials,and introduce the phenomenology of perception in order to reveal the relationship between the architectural narratology and historical time.At the same time,it interprets the relationship between experience of order and psychological time by introducing the theory of visual perception.On these bases,it analyses the exploration in arts and architecture executed by modernist&contemporary architects.On one hand,it investigates the exploration in painting and architecture by le Corbusier and Theo van Doesburg,on the other hand,it analyses the exploration in architectural narratology carried out by Bernard Tschumi and the question of spatial nature made by S-M.A.O..Based on this research,the dissertation generalizes the characteristics of spatial narratology,such as disjunction and juxtaposition,crossover and superposition,dynamic pathway.Meanwhile,it summaries the characteristics of phenomenal transparency which act as the practical methods of introducing the psychological time into architecture,such as interactive voids,confrontational voids and permeation of volumes.Furthernore,the dissertation makes the forecast on the conversation between time and space in architecture,discusses the relationship between philosophy,arts and architecture and calls for the return to the nature of space.
