The Analysis Of ChangNing ZhongTian Village Settlement’s Pattern Research And Protection Strategy

Zhongtian Village’s ancient dwellings are located in Miaoqian Town,Changning City.It is well-preserved and one of the largest ancient building complex of Ming and Qing dynasty in Hunan Province.The ancient building complex is unique because of its history,location,and cultural environment.It is of great significance to study its military defence function and building component of Ming style.This thesis mainly covers two parts:(1)It is to study the surroundings,forms and structures of Zhongtian village’s ancient dwellings,on the basis of its “settlement environment”,and to conclude its enlightenment on construction of modern residence.(2)It is to put forward some effective and scientific proposals for solving the problems in preservation work and for preserving the dwellings in a better way.There are five chapters in this thesis.Chapter One is Introduction,which is about the research background,objectives,significance,methods,framework,as well as the relevant literature review.Chapter Two is Environment and History of Zhongtian Village,which introduces this village’s natural environment,historical changes,life style of villagers,and the cultural background.Chapter Three is the Form and Main Elements of Zhongtian Village,stating its composition,analyzing the influence factors of site selection,the forming of settlement environment,the layout of village and the space distribution,and introducing the village’s scenic spots,fengshui and entertainment centers for the public.Chapter Four is Zhongtian Village’s Ancient Residential Buildings.This chapter analyzes the impact of Confucianism on these ancient residential buildings,and concludes their features by describing their characteristics of architectural technology,graphic design,space form,decoration art and family life etc.Chapter Five is Tactics on Preserving Zhongtian Village’s Environment.Firstly,it analyzes the present condition of these ancient dwellings and the existing problems of preservation work.Secondly,it sums up what indeed needs to be protected and the principles concerned.Lastly,it proposes some specific tactics on how to preserve these dwellings better.
