Research On The Design Of Housing Type Of Congregated Housing Based On Phenomenology

The nature of multiple dwelling houses is vertical settlement,the apartment is the basic units of the vertical settlement.The pros and cons of design of apartment is closely related to the quality of daily life of urban residents.However,in the current context of rapid urbanization in China,the design and building of multiple dwelling houses is market-driven,unit design is becoming a capital game,which is mainly accounting the area and functional using.Showing a series of issues such like the uniformity pattern of apartment,indifferent spatial effects and so on,that make it is drifting away from its nature as a "house as home",resulting in the unbridgeable contradictions between market supply and demand for household.In my opinion,as "house as home",apartment is essentially a combine of the concept of "home" and the entity of "house".Therefore,the type design of "house as home" unifies two levels of design thinking: the type design scheme for the entity of "house",and the inquiry of pursuit of value and meaning of the concept of "home".Only if when the concept of "home" and the entity of "house" combined together,that the apartment agree on its nature as a "house as home".Thus,as philosophical questioning the nature of things,the phenomenological theory,which grasp the essence of things through the perspective of the concept of consciousness and inquiries awareness of things,provides a new way of thinking for the establishment of the type design of “house” based on the ontological value of "home".This paper sets apartment of multiple dwelling houses as the object of study,Firstly,based on the summarizing of the related research from the domestic and foreign,this paper combs the important concepts of phenomenology,and resolves the concept of some confusing terminology that appears in this paper.Secondly,this paper uses the analysis of the reducing nature of phenomenology,analysis the apartment and its components,and obtains the essential elements of apartment’s components.Next,based on the theory of pattern language,this paper aiming at the essential elements of apartment’s components,constructs a pattern language system based on the nature of design for apartment of multiple dwelling houses.Finally,relying on the transformation case of author’s home,the paper makes a practice of the specific use of this pattern language system.In summary,this paper attempts to aid the perspective of phenomenology,settingthe design of multiple dwelling houses’ apartment as a starting point,discusses the possibility to translate phenomenological theories from philosophy to architecture,to provide a new perspective on inquiring essence of life for the design of multiple dwelling houses’ apartment.And provides a reference case for the related design practitioners by the transformation case of author’s home.This paper hopes to initiate efforts to build a more vivid,meaning and valuable modern urban living environment.
