Research On The Context Expression Of Traditional Commercial District Under The Background Of Urban Renewal

In the process of the formation of a city,traditional commercial district is always the earlier formed regional types.It is the backbone and texture of a city and carry important functions,like commodity exchange,financial services and cultural entertainments.and a direct manifestation of a city’s social,economic and cultural development level.What is more,it also represent the entire cityscape.However,with the progress of society,the development of traditional commercial district has been constrained for a variety of conditions,like the growing of population size and building density,the rise of land prices,the increased traffics,the disappearance of traditional commercial viability and so on.Traditional commercial districts began to decline.In recent years,with the acceleration of urbanization in China,urban scale becomes larger and larger and urban land resources face the scarcity,people in China began to realize the importance of urban renewal.Within the process of urban renewal,the phenomenon of context damage in the traditional commercial district can not be ignored,especially in some cities,to alleviate traffic problems of the old district,local government departments choose the reconstruction ways and build an entire new type of streets texture,which indeed cause seriously damage to the historical context of the city.These behaviors hinder the continuation of the urban context and accelerated the disappearance of traditional culture and history.Modern cities become similar and the city characteristics can get easily lost these days.Facing with this reality,how to balance the relationships of urban renewal and the protection of historical context and achieve the expression and Inheritance of context are the problems which urgently need us to think and solve.This article is based on the study of historical context,via the method of sorting the related domestic and foreign context theories,discusses the core connotation and material composition of historical context.In addition to the design elements and principles of traditional commercial street reconstructions analyzes,it also discusses historical context express strategy in the traditional commercial district through specific examples of the transformation of neighborhoods.In the end,combined with personally involved design program and on the basis of respect Ningbo urban context,the author analyze the spatial shape of traditional,cultural landscape remains and draw a conclusion of the real suitable ways of context expression in traditional commercial district.These strategies are meant to continue the traditional urban culture and create a commercial pedestrian street which can not only adapt to modern urban people’s shopping,leisure and cultural needs,but also inherited the urban context characteristics.
