The proposal and research of the Environmental Kuznets Curve provide ideas and directions for discussing the relationship between environmental quality and economic development level.At present,the empirical study of Environmental Kuznets Curve in China mostly uses the panel data of the whole country for analysis.China has a vast land area and a vast hinterland.There is a big difference between regions in terms of natural geography.The social and economic level of development in different natural geographical conditions is different,and the environmental quality problems are also different.From a single country level,we will take a study Considering the relationship between environmental quality and economic development,it is easy to ignore the heterogeneity between regions,and the practicability of the conclusions of the study is also affected.In this regard,this paper focuses on the single region of China,and selects the data of Yangtze River Delta,an important economic center of China,to analyze and discuss the relationship between environmental quality and economic development level.The Yangtze River Delta is not only a collection of urban agglomerations,but also a model of integrated development of geographical location.It is one of the areas with the best urbanization foundation in China.It has a wide economic hinterland,a modern river port group and airport group,a sound expressway network,a national leading density of public rail transportation trunk lines,and a three-dimensional comprehensive transportation network.This paper selects the environmental index data and economic data of two provinces and one city in the Yangtze River Delta from 2004 to 2017 for regression analysis.In terms of index selection,it is different from the previous scholars who only selected three industrial wastes(industrial waste water,industrial SO2,industrial smoke and dust)as the environmental quality evaluation index.In this paper,four indexes are selected to evaluate the environmental quality,i.e.sulfur dioxide The assessment of environmental quality is more suitable for the daily life and production of residents,and has more practical significance for the economic development trend of the vigorous development of the tertiary industry.Through the empirical study,there is an obvious quadratic relationship between wastewater discharge,nitrogen oxide discharge and per capita GDP.The fitted curve is consistent with the classical assumption of inverted "U" Environmental Kuznets curve.From the perspective of pollutant discharge,we can see that the Yangtze River delta basically conforms to the assumption of inverted "U" shape of the Environmental Kuznets curve,and has reached the inflection point of the Environmental Kuznets curve.The future development will also be in the second half of the Environmental Kuznets curve,that is,with the economic growth,the environmental quality will continue to improve.From the perspective of the overall fitting of the Yangtze River Delta,the relationship between the environmental quality and the level of economic development in the Yangtze River Delta is at a similar stage,which to a certain extent provides an important basis and prerequisite for the further study of the mechanism of environmental cooperation in the Yangtze River Delta.There will not be much resistance for the Yangtze River Delta to work together to formulate common and comprehensive environmental policies and regulations,and since then In the process of implementing the common environmental policy,we can get more positive response and achieve certain effect. |
