| Global warming and ecological degradation have posed great challenges to human survival and development.Developing a low-carbon economy has become an inevitable choice for all countries in the world. As the world’s largest developing country,China also attaches great importance to how to improve the level of low-carbon economy. The proposal of carbon peak and carbon neutrality in 2020 reflects China’s responsibility as a major power in addressing global climate change, and also points out the direction for the development of low-carbon economy in China. The Yangtze River Delta region is one of the most active and open regions in China. Its energy consumption and carbon emissions are huge, and the task of energy conservation and emission reduction is arduous,so the development of low-carbon economy is the only way to enhance regional competitiveness and achieve sustainable development. This thesis firstly compared the domestic and foreign literature and explained the connotation and characteristics of low-carbon economy and related theories;secondly, using the data of the Yangtze River Delta region from 2010 to 2020,a low-carbon economy evaluation index system was constructed from five aspects: economic development, social development, energy consumption and emission, ecological environment and technology level, and the entropy value method was used to measure the low-carbon economy of 41 cities in the Yangtze River Delta region; Then, the low carbon economy level in the Yangtze River Delta region was taken as the dependent variable, and the fixed effect model and panel quantile regression model were used to empirically analyze the influence of economic development level, population size and its square term, urbanization level, industrial structure, technology level,opening-up to the outside world and policies on it.The above empirical results showed that: the overall low-carbon economy in the Yangtze River Delta region is increasing and shows strong regional differentiation;in the fixed-effects model, all factors have significant effects on the low-carbon economy in the Yangtze River Delta region, while openness to the outside world and population size are negatively correlated with the low-carbon economy and all other factors are positively correlated;in the panel quantile regression model, there is heterogeneity in the effects of various factors on the level of low-carbon economy in different quantile. Finally, based on the results of the above study and combined with the characteristics of the cities, corresponding suggestions were put forward to promote the development of low-carbon economy in the Yangtze River Delta region.Figure [4] table [17] reference [74]... |
