Haptic Expression Of Roe-Shapedinlayin Jewelry Art

Roe inlaying is one of the traditional inlaying techniques.The meaning and beauty of works are illustrated in this study by taking roe inlaying technique as specific research object,sorting out its development background and status and combining it with its tactile characteristics so that the tactile language of roe becomes a major symbol in the works.Vertically,domestic and overseas works are analyzed in terms of time sequence,and the development changes and status are also sorted out through data analysis and classification.Horizontally,different materials are classified for discussion by studying,investigating and accumulating the application of relevant mosaic and tactile elements.The experiment of work fabrication is described and summarized in this paper such as preparing by allocating different components,using engraving tools and metal color cooking.And relevant inlaying techniques and skills are also comprehensively summarized.The experimental preparation and investigation enables us to better understand the emotional expression of traditional workmanship and jewelry design during creation,striving to provide more directions and methods for designers in creating traditional and modern works.Firstly seen in bronze ware during the Shang and Zhou dynasties,roe inlaying technique has a long history.However,difficult production technique and its restrictions imposed to work creation results in the slow development of such technique.With the development of information age and the changes of social aesthetics,both roe inlaying technique and jewelry art are faced with a lot of challenges.On the one hand,relevant techniques are more frequently communicated,thus making it universally known as more information is communicated and obtained,and jewelry art enjoys a broader prospect;on the other hand,works tend to have a lot in common as creators fail to have discussion about design and technique.Therefore,such works are difficult to be inherited while being challenged by market.On the premise of inhering traditional workmanship culture,this paper explores how roe inlaying can be integrated with modern jewelry design and current social forms so that works are no longer simple ornaments but carriers with certain artistic significance.The final works are designed to be integrated with the thoughts about humanistic care by combining roe inlaying with jewelry design and the tactile characteristics of roe inlaying technique with braille effect.As an element symbol with text connotation,braille is used to convey the communication concept and interactive relations of “feeling by touching” in the works.“Touch” is for surface,and “feel” is about heart and realm.The jewelry wearers will have a tactile relationship with jewelry during use,making them an important member in creating works and comprehending the ideas caused by touching.The traditional techniques and skills are used to integrate jewelry design with existing social forms and explore the new features of works created by roe inlaying technique,aiming to provide more innovative applications of traditional workmanship and directions for designing jewelry.
