Research On The Environmental Responsibility Behavior Of Birdwatchers

From a global perspective,birdwatching has become an important part of ecotourism.The environmental behavior of birdwatchers is an important factor affecting the sustainable development of birdwatching tourism,and it is also the key to protecting the ecological environment.While birdwatching tourism raises the environmental awareness of birders,it also faces many challenges.This paper first explores the dimensional composition and influencing factors of environmental responsibility behavior of birdwatchers through qualitative methods,in order to build a theoretical model of generating mechanism.Further conduct empirical research to verify constituent dimensions,and focus on testing the impact of environmental knowledge,natural empathy,and group norms on the environmentally responsible behavior of birdwatchers.Based on a systematic understanding of environmentally responsible behaviors,this paper combines the qualitative analysis of grounded theory analysis and the quantitative research methods of questionnaires to research the environmentally responsible behaviors of birdwatchers.In the grounded theory analysis stage,based on the in-depth interview data of 35 birdwatchers as the data source,the constituent dimensions and influencing factors of environmental responsibility behaviors were explored,and a theoretical model of the environmental responsibility behavior of birdwatchers was established.The results show that the environmentally responsible behavior of birdwatchers is composed of four aspects: intellectual support,management and maintenance,contribution and participation,and promotion;and the key influencing factors of environmental responsibility behaviors are cognitive factors,emotional factors,group factors,and promoting factors.Cognitive directly affect environmentally responsible behavior,while emotional factors and group factors play a mediating role in the relationship between cognitive factors and environmentally responsible behaviors,and facilitating factors regulate the relationship between cognitive factors,emotional factors,and group factors between environmental behaviors Relationship strength separately.At the stage of empirical research,the results show that the environmentally responsible behavior of birdwatchers is composed of two factors: "specific environmentally responsible behavior" and "general environmentally responsible behavior".At the same time,in order to clarify the mechanism of environmental knowledge on environmentally responsible behaviors,this study builds a model with dual intermediation,examining the mediating role of natural empathy and group norms in the relationship between the two.Taking 342 birdwatchers as the test subjects,questionnaires were used to investigate their environmental knowledge,natural empathy,group norms,and environmental responsibility behaviors.The research hypothesis was verified by means of statistical analysis of data.The research results show that after controlling age and gender,environmental knowledge has a significant positive effect on environmental responsibility behavior.Natural empathy and group norms can play a mediated role in the relationship of environmental knowledge and environmental responsibility.Finally,the research proposes the guide intervention strategies for birdwatchers' environmentally responsible behavior from four aspects: education,activities,organization,and publicity,and research conclusions and limitations are explained,and future research directions are put forward on this basis.The research are not only helpful to theoretically understand the environmental responsibility behavior of birdwatchers in China,but also have enlightenment for guiding the responsible environmental behavior of birdwatchers.
