More than 90%of China's import and export trade is done by sea transportation. The safety of maritime navigation is not only related to the safety of the crew, but also poses great challenges to the country's economic development. In recent years, with the enlargement of ships and the gradual implementation of China's "the Belt and Road" strategy, the huge port traffic volume has made the port waters busier. With the large-scale engineering and infrastructure construction, the complex traffic environment has made port waters The accident rate continues to increase,so it is necessary to conduct a navigation safety assessment of the port waters, which can effectively reduce the occurrence of marine traffic accidents. In order to implement the requirements of maritime values of "Saving Safety",through the research of relevant literature, this paper aims at the characteristics of the past channel risk assessment that are not targeted and have a single evaluation object.a factor index based on AIS data is proposed to carry out a risk assessment method for the waterway.Through the AIS data to grasp the traffic flow, ship type, speed distribution and other related information in the channel, combined with the port channel environmental information, according to the opinions of experts to determine the weighting index of each factor, using the AHP method to carry out ships of different sizes and speeds The risk assessment of channel navigation provides new ideas and attempts for the safety assessment of port channel navigation safety.Taking Beigaoqiao waterway as an example, the navigation safety risk evaluation was carried out,the evaluation results of ships of different sizes under different speeds were obtained, and the corresponding safe navigation suggestions were put forward, which provided a theoretical basis for the safe navigation of the waterway.
