Since the reform and opening up,the economy of Zhejiang Province has developed rapidly. In 2018,Zhejiang's GDP ranked fourth in the country. It has developed into a manufacturing base nationwide and even globally, but its extensive growth model relies too much on resources and the environment. From an international perspective,low-carbon development is an inevitable choice for coping with climate change. From a domestic perspective,low-carbon development is the only way to develop ecological civilization, and the 13 th five-year plan period has clearly taken the effective control of carbon emissions and the construction of a green low-carbon recycling industrial system as the key tasks. Therefore,it is urgent to change the current mode of economic growth, reverse the extensive growth of high pollution, high consumption, and high emissions, and expand the business of enterprises to a link with good economic returns and low emissions. It includes two aspects of replacing physical factor input with service factor input in the production process of the manufacturing industry, and taking the service as the final product or the service provided by the existing products, which are respectively called the servitization of intermediate inputs in manufacturing and the service-oriented manufacturing output.Since the service-oriented manufacturing output is measured by describing the business content and business scope of some companies,it is difficult to obtain data and cannot reflect the situation of the entire manufacturing industry. Now many scholars focus on the measurement of the servitization of intermediate inputs in manufacturing when studying the servitization of manufacturing industry. This paper deals with how to slow down carbon emissions under the premise of economic growth and whether the trend of the servitization of manufacturing can effectively promote the reduction of carbon emissions in the industry. This paper first explains the research background and significance, and summarizes the definition and measurement of the servitization of manufacturing by domestic and foreign scholars,as well as the economic and environmental effects of the servitization of manufacturing.Based on the existing theories, the second part of this paper analyzes the development of the manufacturing and producer services industry in Zhejiang Province, and introduces the measurement method of the servitization of intermediate inputs in manufacturing. The third part elaborates the calculation method of carbon emission from energy consumption, the current situation of carbon emission in manufacturing in Zhejiang. In the fourth part, based on the theories of division of labor, scale economy and economies of scope and value chain, the paper analyzes the influencing mechanism of carbon emission reduction in the service orientation of manufacturing industry. The fifth part empirically analyzes the impact by using the panel data of 17 manufacturing industries in Zhejiang Province in 2007,2010,2012 and 2015 and building a panel data model based on STIRPAT model. The results show that the servitization of intermediate inputs in manufacturing has an impact on carbon dioxide emissions. There is an " inverted U-shaped " relationship between the servitization of intermediate inputs in manufacturing and carbon dioxide emission, and present manufacturing in Zhejiang Province is located in the down part of the inverted U-shaped curve, namely the higher level of the servitization of intermediate inputs in manufacturing, the lower carbon emissions, and the rate of impact is getting faster and faster. In the sixth part, the policy recommendations are proposed.
