Faced with severe climate problems and the urgent need for transformation of manufacturing industry, the servitization of manufacturing industry can motivate manufacturers to change the traditional value creation methods and their resource utilization modes,so as to reduce the potential consumption of resources and the damage to environment. This capability has the potential to reduce CO2 emission embodied in export, providing a huge opportunity for China’s manufacturing industry to reduce emissions.Among all the input of manufacturing industry, producer service inputs are regarded as an intermediate demand that directly reflects the economy’s ability to respond to environmental changes. It has strong industrial relevance and a high professionalism and there is a close relationship with the manufacturing industry by interaction and integration. However, producer service inputs from different sources have different characteristics and development trends. Therefore,in the process of manufacturing output servitization reducing the CO2 emission embodied in export,it will have completely different impacts on the CO2 emission embodied in export through its integration with producer service inputs from different sources.Against this background,a clear picture of the producer service inputs, output servitization level and CO2 emission embodied in exports of China’s manufacturing industry at the current stage, and clarification of their relationship will provide an important theoretical and practical basis for clarifying the current pain points and promoting the emission reduction work and sustainable development. Therefore,by using data on the WIOT world input-output tables from 2000 to 2014,this paper systematically describes the status of producer service inputs, the level of manufacturing output servitization and CO2 emission embodied in export of China’s manufacturing industries from the perspective of domestic and foreign producer service inputs.Based on this, this paper uses multi-regional input-output analysis and regression models to explore the relationship between China’s manufacturing output servitization and CO2 emission embodied in export, and then verifies the heterogeneous effects of domestic and foreign producer service inputs combined with manufacturing output servitization to the CO2 emission embodied in export. This paper draws the following important conclusions.China’s manufacturing output servitization has significant‘emission reduction effects’on the CO2 emission embodied in export, namely,an increase in the level of manufacturing output servitization can reduce the level of carbon emissions embodied in export dramatically. Moreover, the servitization level of advanced manufacturing industry can further reduce the emission level by increasing the number of domestic producer service inputs from sources and foreign productive service inputs.Domestic producer service inputs always dominate this progress and play a more significant role in promoting the‘emission reduction effects’of manufacturing output servitization to the CO2 emission embodied in export. This paper puts forward the following suggestions to help clarify the current pain points and achieve the emission reduction goals based on the above conclusions.Firstly, improving the quality of domestic producer service inputs and introducing high-quality foreign producer service inputs actively to optimize the input structure of the manufacturing industry continuously.Secondly, learning experience about promoting the improvement of manufacturing output servitization from foreign countries and providing policy support for the output servitization of high-tech manufacturing industry to promoting the development of high-tech manufacturing industry with output servitization mode.Thirdly, improving energy efficiency, optimizing the energy consumption structure and setting reasonable emission reduction targets to promote low-carbon development strategy.Fourthly, carrying out international cooperation with other economies in low-carbon development area actively and promoting the improvement and rationalization of international carbon emission standards and emission reduction responsibility allocation.
