Design And Implement Of Portable Mud-logging System

Using mud-logging system in the drilling process of development wells can meet the needs of hydrocarbon discovery and drilling safety monitoring.With the increasing difficulty of exploration and the development of drilling technology,the original mud-logging system for development well cannot meet the production requirements because of high failure rate and complicated operation.This paper presents a design for a modular,low-cost,easy-to-install portable mud-logging system to overcome the defects of the original system and meet the technical requirements of mud-logging for development wells.Aiming at the FID gas detection problems of complicated structure and high failure rate,this paper selected the NDIR gas detection method,developing a multicomponent infrared detection module with the single light source wavelength multiplexing technology and high precision low-drift preamplifier circuit,and the gas detection unit is placed near the degasser to realize gas detection on well site.For the heavy workload problem of multi wire data acquisition,this paper developed an RS-485 bus data acquisition system.And the wireless transmission technology is used to enhance the system adaptability to complex well site,and separate the detection & acquisition unit and the data processing unit.Meanwhile,the CAN bus data acquisition system is achieved and used in mud-logging system.Using Visual C++ the mud-logging software is developed,and the functions of RS-485 bus data acquisition,infrared gas detection data acquisition and nonlinear correction,WITS format data input output,database storage is carried out.The system self-inspection and remote monitoring programs are developed to guarantee the equipment safety.The laboratory and field test prove that the portable mud-logging system fully meet the demands of mud-logging for development wells.The mud-logging system based on the results of this research has been used in bulk.
