Research On Social Identification Mechanism Of China's Environmental Movement Under Network Society

The emergence of a global,interactive new-technology medium that has been spawned by the Internet has provided strength for the formation of collective identity,which produced a series of new social movements based on recognition.Since the 1990 s,with the increasingly severe environmental problems in China,research on the environmental movement has gradually become an important component of the new social movement research.As a link between individual's cognition,morality and emotions as well as the practice or system of social groups,collective identity becomes the core concept in social movement.In the contemporary,there is less research on the identification mechanism in the environmental movement,and they are all focused on the special type of environmental resistance movement.Therefore,this study intends to make breakthroughs in this research situation.Through the analysis of content and cases,the recognition mechanism in the environmental movement is examined from a global perspective.This article begins with the classification of environmental movements according to the role of the initiator of the movement,discussing three types of environmental movements under the leadership of the government,the spontaneous organization of the people,and the leading role of environmental NGO.Second,through the analysis of the process of the typical cases and the identification mechanism,summarizes the characteristics of the identification mechanisms of these three types of environmental movements,as well as the role of new media in this process.In the government-led environmental movement,the binary interaction between the government and traditional media has become the mainstream,but the absence of new media directly leads to the lack of public rights and affects the completion of the environmental goals.In the environmental movement led by environmental NGO,environmental protection organizations have conducted effective communication and cooperation with the government.At the same time,they through the power of new media to gather more public participation,so as to form a more solid collective identity.While in the people-led environmental movement,groups form a community with the same confrontational goals,and thus spontaneously organize the movements.This resisting identity process leads to more extremely and disorderly means of movement.The community will be dissolved immediately after the event ends.In addition,according to Custer classification of identity,these three types of identification mechanisms are classified as legitimacy,rejection and plan approval,and sum up their general processes.Finally,through a general analysis of the transformations and linkages among the three identification mechanisms,finding the best path for the transformation of environmental movement recognition mechanism,and finally providing a little inspiration and reference for the development of China's environmental movement in the future.Through the analysis of the three identification mechanisms,we can understand that there is no strict process division in the identification itself,instead,the sharing based on meaning changes continuously according to the reality of the environmental movement.In this process,there need to focus on three clear factors: the clear sports goal,the detailed exercise plan,and the self-consciousness of the participants' self-consciousness to the sense of collective identity.These three factors determine whether the environmental movement can ultimately achieve the desired goal and produce a positive social effect.Therefore,it is the development direction of China's future environmental movement recognition mechanism that integrates the programmatic legitimacy.In order to achieve this goal,it is necessary to make full use of various channels and platform resources of the online society to promote the steady development of China's environmental movement.
