Research On Technicism Misunderstandings And Countermeasures In Ecological Modernization

The theory of ecological modernization was originally proposed by western developed capitalist countries to solve the increasingly serious problems of ecological environment,and to guide the practice of ecological environment protection.Subsequently,due to economic globalization and industrialization,countries are facing a universal ecological environment problem and ecological modernization become a global environmental sociology theory.Its main characteristics are the integration of modernization and ecologicalization theory,the institutionalization and systematization of the relationship between economic development and ecological environment protection,and the practice of ecological modernization by means of technology,market,policy and so on.On the basis of defining the related theories and concepts of "ecological modernization" and "technicism",this paper analyzes the role of technology in ecological modernization,further probes into the trend of technicism in the ecological modernization construction due to the excessive reliance on technical tools and the lack of rationality reflection on technological tools,and proposes some feasible solutions to the misunderstandings of technicism in ecological modernization.It is undeniable that technology plays an important role in ecological modernization and is an important force to solve ecological environment problems.In the construction of ecological modernization,technology can bring into play the functions of ecological monitoring,pollution prevention,ecological restoration,ecological purification,dissemination of ecological consciousness and so on.But technology is a double-edged sword.In ecological modernization,if it is too dependent on technology,it will inevitably go to the abyss of technicism.As a kind of technology-only value,technicism will technicalize all the problems and the means of solving problems,mainly as follows: Some regions and government departments take the technical monitoring data as the only standard and lack long-term large-scale monitoring of the ecological environment;Blindly pursue the ecological restoration technology and cause the spread of "treatment after pollution";Excessively rely on environmental survey technology,and lack long-term comprehensive environmental survey;Over-reliance on pollution prevention and control technologies,neglect pollution prevention and energy conservation and emission reduction;Excessively rely on media communication technology and lack long-term ecological value orientation,etc.From the root,the rational expansion of technological tools,the uncertainty of technology,the weakening of human subjectivity,the inflexible implementation of institutionalized environmental policy,the narrow egoism of human beings have all contributed to the technicism in the construction of ecological modernization.Therefore,people must criticize and reflect on the technicism tendency that may exist in the theory and practice of ecological modernization,seek feasible solutions,and insist on harmonious coexistence between man and nature;Pursue the unity of instrumental rationality and valuerationality;Strengthen the construction of ecological subjectivity;Realize the technology ecology turn,so as to promote the construction of ecological civilization,construct the life community of man and nature,realize the harmonious symbiosis between man and nature.
