Since the high-speed vehicles turned up,bird strike have plagued transportation including aircraft,high-speed rail and maglev trains. In these vehicles, bird strikes are the most dangerous to the flight safety of the aircraft.Bird strikes occur most frequently during the taking off, taxiing, and landing phases of the aircraft. Therefore, the vicinity of the airport is the most likely area for bird strikes.Xuzhou Guanyin International Airport is located in Xuzhou City,Jiangsu Province. It was officially opened in 1997 and has more than 30 existing flights. It is a large-scale civilian airport. The area where is suitable for the climate, bird resources are relatively abundant. Therefore,it is necessary to carry out research on the bird community structure and the environment structure of the Guanyin Airport and its surrounding areas.Through the investigation results, fund the reasons that may lead to the occurrence of bird strikes, and improve the flight safety of Guanyin Airport. This study began in July 2016 and conducted a one-year survey on the bird community structure and environmental structure in the area within 5 km of the Guanyin Airport. The main methods used were sample lines and sample points etc.The results of the survey were collated and analyzed. The results are as follows:1.It were 75 species of birds were recorded in Guanyin Airport, belonging to 14 orders and 35 families. There are 39 species in 19 families of the Passerine,7 species in3 families in the order of pelicans,5 species in 1 family in the order of,24 species in11 other orders,25 species in resident and summer migrants,17 species in migrant birds and 8 species in winter; There are 33 species in the northern boundary,24 species in the widespread species, and 18 species in the Oriental community.2.There were 41 species of birds in Guanyin Airport and its surrounding areas in the spring,45 species of birds in summer,44 species in autumn, and 35 species in winter.spring> autumn> winter> summer, nursery> waters> farmland> woodland>grassland> culture area> residential area.Average density: summer> autumn> spring>winter.3.The most important birds are a total of 11 species,Passer montanus,Pycnonotus sinensis,Pica pica,Streptopelia chinensis,Lanius schach,Parus major,Turdus merula,Streptopelia orientalis,Hirundo rustica,Motacilla alba,Upupa epops;10 species of important birds,Picus canus,Aegithalos caudatus etc. There are 22 species of less important birds,Picus canus,Dendrocopos major etc.The most important birds are 36 species,Asio flammeus,Dendronanthus indicus etc.4.On the basis of the actual situation of Guanyin Airport, seven more important measurement factors were selected to calculate the risk of bird strike for all birds.Streptopelia chinensis(R=0.7678),Streptopelia orientalis(R=0.7419),Pica pica(R=0.7377),Pycnonotus sinensis(R=0.7190),Passer montanus(R=0.7188),Barn Hirundo rustica(R=0.7083),Cyanopica cyanus(R=0.6743),Sturnus cineraceus(R=0.6151).5.According to the bird strike records of Guanyin Airport during 2014-2017,the bird strikes were concentrated in March-November and the high-rising period was June-September and afternoon to evening;the most number of collisions were swallows, doves, and other eagles;the collision rate of bats was also high.6.Insects in the airport lawn began to appear in April and gradually increased from May to July. The species and number reached the maximum from August to September.Insect surveys found a total of 18 species of insects. The highest density was Oxya chinensis.7.According to the investigation and analysis results, corresponding countermeasures against bird strikes were put forward for Guanyin Airport in different seasons, different habitats, and different bird species.
