Augmented reality technology is an efficient teaching assist technology in the information epoch.By overlaying the scenes of the real environment and the virtual scene,it visualizes the abstract and incomprehensible concept of knowledge and creates an immersive learning environment for students to achieve the purpose of constructing knowledge.Astronomy is one of the oldest and most dynamic natural sciences.Astronomy is the study of the distribution and operation of the main celestial bodies in the universe as well as the structure and changes of the universe,students are exposed to more abstract things such as space structure of the universe in the process of learning astronomy.The visualization of the bodies space structure on textbooks is lack,students have certain difficulties in cognition and memory and need some means to assist in learning.This study combines augmented reality technology with learning.It can not only visualizes the bodies structure but also helps students to build basic knowledge of astronomy and improve their science accomplishment.The research objectives in this study are to design a mobile augmented reality APP in astronomy learning,to identify effectiveness of this developed APP in astronomy learning and to explore contribution of the APP to student' self-efficacy.The present research involves 3 steps,first is to design and develop mobile augmented reality for astronomy subject,second to identify effectiveness of mobile augmented reality in astronomy subject,and third is to explore contribution of mobile augmented reality to student' self-efficacy.Final application size of the developed APP is 52 MB with APK format and 17 detectable markers.Students after using media was tested with 30 question from national exams based on Indonesia syllabus.The result showed after using mobile augmented reality self-efficacy of students in discussion group higher than students receiving the regular discussion group lesson.This research recommends schools and teacher to apply mobile augmented reality in learning to increase student'self-efficacy.
