The exploitation and utilization of plant resources by human beings has threatened the sustainable development of natural ecological environment, the protection of plant diversity and the construction of ecological civilization calls to surge upward. It is particularly important to popularize the botanical knowledge to the general public especially for young children. However, currently the cultivation of children's cognitive quality in our country is relatively simple. There also is a lack of innovation and breakthrough in the content and form of popular science. How to combine the popular science education with science and technology in the era of new media is a new proposition.Fantasy Botanical Garden is a product of plant cognitive education for children aged 2-7,which combines augmented reality(AR)technology with paper cards. The user learns plant knowledge through a mobile terminal scanning a plant card. The product is studied with 15 kinds of plants which are interesting in nature and common in life.It brings children an innovative reading experience and an interaction form of virtual and reality.Based on children's plant cognition education needs, this paper analyzes the advantages of AR technology and emotional experience of interactive learning. The study aims at exploring a new media theory, methods and practical thinking for the contents of digital science and children's plant cognition. In this paper, the children's plant cognition system based on AR technology is a new experience of popular science communication mode.It has the frontier in the field of plant science education research, promoting the spread and popularization of plant cognitive education, and promotes the development of science and technology.
