The advantages and disadvantages of soil conditioners on the market are unknown,which lead difficulty on choice for planters.In order to select efficient soil conditioner,saline soil was improved using four kinds of soil conditioners,desulfurization gypsum,polymer modifier,Nevada ash and HouQi ash.And then,the soil pH,as well as the growth and physiological mechanism of E.alatusalatus and A.davidiana on the saline soil and the improved saline soil were studied through indoor pot experiments in this article.It will be beneficial to improve saline soil for the future.The results showed that:1.on the saline soil,the ratio of potassium and sodium,soluble sugar and pro line content of A.davidiana were higher than those of E.alatusalatus during the whole growth season,indicating that the resistance to alkali and cold of the former was stronger than that of the latter.2.The pH of the soil under treatments of the four kinds of soil conditioners were all lower than those with no treatment.Among them the pH value under polymer modifier was the lowest,followed by desulphurization gypsum.3.According to the final results,the four soil conditioners had an increasing effect on the shoot length,ratio of potassium and sodium and the soluble sugar content in E.alatusalatus.The length(34.63cm)and diameter(3.18cm)were the longest under HouQi ash treatment.The content of soluble sugar in the leaves was the highest(74.72 g/mL)and proline in the leaves was the lowest(4.79 g/mL)under Nevada ash treatment.4.According to the final results,the four soil conditioners significantly increased the branch length of A.davidiana.The branch length of A.davidiana under desulfurization gypsum treatment was the longest(50.36cm).The stem diameter of A.davidiana(3.29cm)and the soluble sugar content(90.40 g/mL)in the leaves were the highest under HouQi ash treatment.The ratio of potassium and sodium was the highest(760.85%),and the proline content in the leaves was the lowest(6.50 g/mL)under Nevada ash treatment.
