Research On Spatial Convergence Of Total Factor Productivity In Gansu Province Secondary Industry

As the pillar industry of national economic development,the secondary industry has always been the focus of attention of the government and academic circles.In recent years,with the advancement of industrialization,the secondary industry in Gansu Province has achieved rapid development.However,in the context of China’s economy entering a stage of high-quality development,the development of the secondary industry in Gansu Province should not only pay attention to the total growth,but also pay attention to the improvement of efficiency.According to the theory of coordinated development of regional economy;the development of the economy is not only the growth of the total economic volume,but more importantly,the coordinated development of the industrial economy in each region on the basis of growth.Then is there an imbalance in the development of total factor productivity in the secondary industry in Gansu Province? From the perspective of coordinated regional economic development,is there a spatial convergence phenomenon in the total factor productivity of the secondary industry in Gansu Province? How to exert the spatial spillover effect of total factor productivity to achieve the coordinated development of the secondary industry in Gansu Province as a whole.Based on the overall development of the secondary industry in Gansu Province,this paper describes the development status of the secondary industry in Gansu Province by using the relative development rate method and simple description of statistical methods,and draws on the DEA-Malmquist method commonly used by scholars in the literature.The total factor productivity of the secondary industry in each region of Gansu Province was measured.Then the σ convergence test was used to test the existence condition σ convergence of the TFP in the second industry.Then the time β convergence method was used to test the convergence of TFP in each year.Then using Moran’s I index to measure the spatial correlation of TFP in Gansu Province’s secondary industry,the spatial convergence of TFP is discussed by using spatial β convergence method.The analysis results show that during the sample period,the development of the secondary industry in Gansu Province has made certain progress,but the development status in different regions is very different.According to the descriptive statistics,the secondary industry in Gansu Province can be seen from a national perspective.The development is still at a relatively low level.However,due to the initial implementation of the “One Belt,One Road” strategy during the sample period,the secondary industry in Gansu Province has experienced a good development,and the gap between its development level and other provinces and cities in China is gradually narrowing.The total factor productivity of Qingyang,Tianshui,Lanzhou and Baiyin regions is relatively high,and the total factor productivity of the secondary industries in Gannan and Linxia regions is relatively low.The specific conclusions are as follows: Firstly,the overall development process can be divided into two stages,namely,the divergence period and the convergence period in the middle and late stages.The divergence period corresponds to 2010-2012,and the convergence period corresponds to 2013-2016.Secondly,by relative The development rate shows that the development of the eastern and central regions is good,and the development of the southwestern region is relatively poor.Finally,from the DEA-Malmquist index decomposition,technical efficiency is an important source of TFP development,while scale efficiency support is small.At the same time,this paper also finds that from the perspective of time angle convergence,the TFP of the secondary industry in Gansu Province has obvious β convergence tendency.From the perspective of spatial convergence,the TFP of the secondary industry in Gansu Province is in the initial stage of the selected sample.In a divergent situation,there is a clear spatial convergence in the middle and late stages,but this trend is gradually weakening.At the end of the paper,based on the results of empirical analysis,the policy recommendations for promoting the coordinated development of the secondary industry in various regions of Gansu Province were pointed out.
