Trichoptera, also known as caddisfly,is widely distributed in various aquatic environments and is the largest order of aquatic insects. In addition, the larvae live in clean water and are sensitive to water pollutants. They are important indicators of the water pollution. However, compared to the rapid taxonomic development of caddisfly adults and larvae, pupae are poorly studied. The thesis constitutes of three parts:(1)the literature review;(2)the rearing of Anisocentropus(Anisocentropus)kawamurai,and(3)the descriptions of 8 caddis pupae. In the first part, the history of the study on world Trichoptera pupae was reviewed, and was divided into 4 stages, namely the stage of steady development(from 1900 to 1930s),the stage of stagnation(from 1940s to 1950s),the stage of trough(from 1960s to 1980s),and the stage of prosperity(from 1990s until now). Then, the application of DNA barcoding method in insect taxonomy, especially in the association of larvae, pupae and adults,is reviewed, and the rearing methods of Trichoptera larvae are discussed. In the second part, the result of rearing the larva of Anisocentropus(Anisocentropus)kawamurai Iwata,1927 is presented, its larvae, pupae and adults are successfully associated. The cases of the larvae constitute of a large oval leaf dorsally and a small oval leaf ventrally. At a temperature of 20?,the last instar larvae lived for about 16 days and then putated. The adults emerged after 4 days' pupal stage. The thesis described the case, pupa of the species, and recorded its habits in case building, abandonment of case, feeding, pupating and emergence.Trichoptera pupae and adults collected from Zhejiang Province were sequenced and analysed, the pupae and adults of following species,Hydropsyche homunculus Schmid,Hydropsyche simulata Mosely,Cheumatopsyche trifascia Li,Apsilochorema hwangi Fischer,Dolophilodes bellatulus Sun&Malicky,Kisaura pectinata Ross, are succefully associated by using DNA barcoding method.Because of lacking adult specimens,a Setodes pupa of Leptoceridae was not associated with its adults, and was recorded as Setodes sp.in this thesis. The abovementioned 7 pupae identified by DNA barcoding method were described, illustrated for the first time. The pupa of Anisocentropus(Anisocentropus)kawamurai 1927,Iwatawas re-described.All the specimens are deposited in the Insect museum of Nanjing Agricultural University.
