Taxonomy Of The Stenus Indubius Group(Coleoptera:Staphylinidae:Steninae) From Mainland China

Stenus indubius group(Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Steninae)is a large group distributed in the temperate and subtropical regions of Asia.So far,10 researchers have described 77 species of the Stenus indubius group.Among them,41 species are recorded from China,27 from Japan,1 from Vietnam,1 from Thailand,1 from Laos and 6 from South Korea.By reviewing all the relevant literature of the group and related species groups,and examing more than 300 specimens in the collection of SNUC,a taxonomic study on this group has been conducted,the results are as the following:1.This paper is the first systematic study of the Stenus indubius group of China Mainland.2.In this paper,15 species of Stenus indubius group are recognized from China,4 new species inculding(all published): S.yaoluopingus Hu & Tang,2018(Anhui),S.lizipingus Hu & Tang,2018(Sichuan),S.fuscus Hu & Tang,2018(Sichuan),and S.absconditor Hu & Tang,2018(Guizhou).The 15 known species: S.paradecens Tang & Li,2005,S.guniujiangensis Tang & Li,2005,S.hui Tang & Li,2009,S.zhuxiaoyui Tang & Puthz,2008,S.pectorifossatus Tang & Puthz,2008,S.erlangshanus Tang & Puthz,2008,S.hewenjiae Tang & Li,2012,S.cangshanus Tang & Li,2012,S.taiyangshanus Tang & Li,2012,S.huapingensis Tang & Li,2012,S.zhaiyanbini Tang & Li,2012,S.yinziweii Tang & Li,2012,S.zhujianqingi Tang &Li,2012,S.tianmushanus Tang & Puthz,2016,and S.tonghanggangus Tang & Puthz,2016.3.All species treated in this paper are described in detail.The Taxonomic histories,distributions,illustrations of major diagnostic characters of each species are given.4.A database for world species of the group is built.The scientific names,authors,years of publication,type localities,distributions,taxonomic histories and illustration of diagnostic characters are provided for each species.5.A key to the Chinese species of Stenus indubius group is presented.6.A list of the species of Chinese Stenus indubius group is given.
