Taxonomy Of The Dianous Luteoguttatus Complex And Related Complexes(Coleoptera:Staphylinidae:Steninae) From The China

Dianous luteoguttatus complex,Dianous bimaculatus complex,Dianous aereus complex and Dianous complex I(Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Steninae)are the closely related complexes in the genus Dianous.Before this study,Dianous luteoguttatus complex is comprised of 5 species and4 species of them are from China.Dianous bimaculatus complex is comprised of 8species and 4 species of them are from China.Dianous aereus complex is comprised of 19 species and 15 species of them are from China.Dianous complex I is comprised of 76 species and 11 species of them are from China.By reviewing the literature of the genus Dianous and examing more than 400 specimens mainly from the collection of SNUC,a taxonomic study focusing on the complexes mentioned above has been conducted,the results are as the following:1.This paper is the first systematic study of the Dianous luteoguttatus complex and its closely related complexes.2.Six species of Dianous luteoguttatus complex in China are studied including 1new species: D.lilizheni Tang & Wang,2018 from Sichuan and Yunnan;one new Chinese record: D.cruentatus L.Benick,1942 from Xizang;one new provincial record: D.depressifrons Puthz,2016 from Guangxi and Fujian;the males of D.vorticipennis Puthz,2005 and D.depressifrons Puthz,2016 and the female of D.rimosipennis Puthz,2005 are discovered for the first time.(All have been published).Six species of Dianous bimaculatus complex in China are studied including 1 new species: D.hubeiensis Tang & Huang,2018 from Hubei;one new Chinese record: D.flavoculatus Puthz,1997 from Yunnan;one new provincial record: D.hainanensis Puthz,1997 from Yunnan.(Published).Six species of Dianous aereus complex in China are studied including 1 new species: D.pseudaerator Tang & Hu,2018 from Fujian;three new provincial record: D.vietnamensis Puthz,1980 from Guangxi,D.rougemontianus Puthz,2000 from Hubei,and D.aerator Puthz,2016 from Guizhou;Male of D.brevicornis Puthz,2000,is discovered for the first time.(All officially published).Ten species of the Dianous complex I in China are studied including 1new Chinese record: D.huanghaoi Tang & Li,2011 from Sichuan.In this study,28 species of Dianous are recorded including 3 new species,2 new Chinese record and 6new provincial record.3.All species treated in this paper are described in detail.Taxonomic histories,distributions,illustrations of major diagnostic characters of 28 species are given.4.A database for species of the Dianous luteoguttatus complex and its closely related complexes was constructed,containing the scientific names,type localities,distributions,taxonomic histories and illustrations of diagnostic characters.5.Keys to the Chinese species of Dianous luteoguttatus complex ? Dianous bimaculatus complex and Dianous complex I are presented.6.Lists of the species of Chinese Dianous luteoguttatus complex and its closely related complex are given.
