A Taxonomic Study Of The Tachinus Fimbriatus Species-group(Coleoptera:Staphylinidae: Tachyporinae) From China

The Tachinus fimbriatus group(Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Tachyporinae:Tachinus)was established by Campbell in 1973 to include 15 species from North America.Prior to this study,this group contained 37 species distributed in the Holarctic and Oriental Regions.Among them,18 species have been described from the Chinese provinces of Sichuan,Tibet,Hubei,etc.In this study,the Chinese species of the group are treated,based on an examination of ca.1700 specimens from all over the country.The results are as the followings:1.A total of twenty-three species of the T.fimbriatus group are recognized,of which seven species are described as new: T.gigantuloides sp.nov.(Tibet),T.granulatus sp.nov.(Sichuan),T.incisus sp.nov.(Sichuan),T.robustoides sp.nov.(Ningxia,Shaanxi,Sichuan),T.rubimarginatus sp.nov.(Tibet),T.spinosus sp.nov.(Sichuan),T.transversus sp.nov.(Ningxia);six species are newly recorded from China: T.bhutanicus Ullrich,1975(Tibet),T.burmanicus Ullrich,1975(Yunnan),T.loebli Schülke,2006(Tibet),T.obesus Weise,1877(Anhui,Zhejiang,Hubei,Jiangxi,Hunan,Fujian,Taiwan,Guangdong,Guangxi,Guizhou),T.paramalaisei Li &Ohbayashi,1996(Tibet),T.piceus Cameron,1932(Tibet);new provincial records are given for seven species: T.brunneus Ullrich,1975(Shaanxi,Ningxia,Gansu,Hubei,Guangxi,Sichuan),T.emeiensis Zhang,Li & Zhao,2003(Sichuan,Yunnan),T.gigantulus Bernhauer,1933(Henan,Shaanxi,Ningxia,Qinghai,Hubei,Sichuan,Yunnan),T.humeronotatus Zhao & Li,2002(Hubei,Sichuan,Yunnan),T.licenti Bernhauer,1938(Shaanxi,Xinjiang,Hubei,Sichuan),T.luoi Li & Zhao,2005(Sichan,Tibet),T.robustus Zhao,Li & Zhang,2003(Shaanxi,Gansu,Zhejiang,Sichuan,Yunnan,Tibet);and three known species are redescribed: T.altiimprimus Schülke,2014(Sichuan),T.grebennikovi Schülke,2014(Sichuan),T.tibetensis Li &Zhao,2005(Tibet).Two names,i.e.,T.yasutoshii Ito,1993 and T.extensiventris Schülke,2014,are proposed as new synonyms of T.obesus.2.Each species is described in detailed,and separated from similar congeners.Pictures of the habitus and diagnostic characters are given for all species.3.A key to the Chinese species of T.fimbriatus group is presented.4.A database of T.fimbriatus group is built,containing the scientific names,research history,references and illustrations of diagnostic characters.5.The distribution of the Chinese species of T.fimbriatus group are mapped,and their distributional pattern briefly discussed.6.A checklist of the world specoes of T.fimbriatus group is provided.
