Taxonomy Of The Stenus Cirrus Group(Coleoptera:Staphylinidae:Steninae) From Mainland China

Stenus cirrus group(Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Steninae)is a large group,distributed in temperate and subtropical regions of Asia.The species of the genus are divided into five subgenus.Among the members of the Stenus cirrus group belong to the subgenera Hypostenus and Hemistenus.Prior to this study,70 species of the Stenus cirrus group have been known worldwide with 48 species recorded from China,18 from Japan,3 from Vietnam and 1 from northern India.In my study,by reviewing all the relevant literatures of the group and examining over 400 specimens collected from China,the Chinese species of the group are reviewed here:1.This paper was the first systematic study of the Stenus cirrus group of China Mainland.2.In this paper,27 species of Stenus cirrus group are recognized from China,of which 21 species are new to science(all punblished): S.hujiayaoi Liu & Tang,2017(Guangxi),S.bullatus Liu & Tang,2017(Guangxi),S.exesus Liu & Tang,2017(Guangxi),S.damingshanus Liu & Tang,2017(Guangxi),S.jinxiuensis Liu & Tang,2017(Guangxi),S.lianhuashanus Liu & Tang,2017(Guangxi),S.hechiensis Liu & Tang,2017(Guangxi),S.wuyanlingus Liu,Tang & Luo,2017(Zhejiang),S.yuyimingi Liu,Tang & Luo,2017(Zhejiang),S.dashaheensis Liu,Tang & Luo,2017(Guizhou),S.zhangyuqingi Liu,Tang & Luo,2017(Guizhou),S.liuyixiaoi Liu,Tang & Luo,2017(Guizhou),S.mangdangshanus Liu,Tang & Luo,2017(Fujian),S.fujianensis Liu,Tang & Luo,2017(Fujian),S.cariniventris Tang,Liu & Dong,2018(Sichuan),S.jiangrixini Tang,Liu & Dong,2018(Sichuan),S.lineatus Tang,Liu & Dong,2018(Sichuan),S.emeishanus Tang,Liu & Dong,2018(Sichuan),S.jiudingshanus Tang,Liu & Dong,2018(Sichuan),S.xichangensis Tang,Liu & Dong,2018(Sichuan),S.brevilineatus Tang,Liu & Dong,2018(Sichuan).3.All species treated in this paper are described in detail.Taxonomic history,distribution,il ustrations of major diagnostic characters and 27 species are given.4.A database for species of the group is constructed,the scientific name,author,year of publication,type locality,distribution,taxonomic history and illustration of diagnostic characters are available for each species.5.A key to the Chinese Mainland species of Stenus cirrus group is presented6.A list of Chinese Stenus cirrus group is given.
